A 1st + (and that value is likely to go up if he continues playing like he has this January), but the area of need for the King's top-goalie prospect or established top-4 LD.

Hard to say, because I don't think the Kings would trade him for a package of futures. If they decided to move Durzi, it would likely be in a package for an upgrade at LHD, and the Kings would need to add in that situation. Unless Ottawa is willing to trade one of Chabot or Sanderson (they're not), I can't see the Kings sending Durzi to Ottawa.

got into a very long debate with a leafs fan who seems to think Durzi wouldn’t catch a first lmfao, trying to see where Durzi’s value lies.

Like my colleague tkecanuck341, I can't see any interest for anyone on the Ottawa roster other than Chabot or Sanderson, and I can't see you trading either of them. He's too much for your 2023 second, not enough for your 2023 first, and I think that there's a limited desire to trade him for a draft pick in any event. The only possible formulation I can imagine is Durzi and our first for your first and second. But you guys are still in the building stage and I can't see you essentially passing on one of the better drafts in recent memory.

I personally wouldn't give up a 1st for him if someone were trying to trade him to the Kings. However, defensemen that score generally go for more than those that don't, and after seeing what guys like Edmundson and Gavrikov are going for around here, I'm beginning to reconsider. He has significantly more trade value than either of those guys due to his age, contract term/value, and level of production.

I got the same reaction from the same homer. You're right.

Yeah, the guy seemed to think that his age and contract term/status didn’t add much value to the trade. He’s 24, making 1.7m for two years and an expiring RFA. Combine that with his point production drives his value to a first at least.

He's an RFA with arbitration rights, and I'm pretty sure that means he'd be under contract for at least two more seasons after 2023-2024.* I think that he'd fit the Ottawa window pretty well.

*(I'm unclear about the rules for an RFA expiring. After the 2025-2026 season, he'll be 27 years old but he'll only have 5 seasons in.)

Durzi will turn 25 after the July 1 deadline for free agency eligibility when his current contract expires. If he elects arbitration, the Kings will be able to select a 1 or 2 year term (assuming he is still with the team). If he takes the 2-year option, he will again be a RFA with arbitration rights in July 2025. At that point, if he elects arbitration, the Kings will only have the option to select a 1-year term since he will be a 26-year old RFA.

At age 27 in 2026, regardless of years of experience, Durzi will become a UFA when his contract expires.

i can fully see OTT trade Chabot, as in Chabot wants out, he was extremely pissed last season and the fact sens still suck bad this season is not helping, he went off on dorion during the end of season 1 on 1 meetings.

he seems to be like Zub but worst defensively (Zub is not a minus player in his NHL career despite being on one of the worst teams in 2 of 3 NHL years playing mostly on the top line but olso on the 2nd like and on the PK)

maybe a late first (25-32) or couple 2nds and a prospect
