if leafs are trading there first I want konecny and leafs don't need bennett. if we want to get out of the first round we need a guy like konecny. so scratch that guy benntt no need for the trade. you want a depth winger who can help with the bottom 6 easy find. dubas can find someone good

So Florida who has zero picks, needs cap relief and still wants to be competitive doesn’t want to give up Bennett which gives em 900k in cap relief this year and 4.5 million over the next 2 yrs while keeping em competitive.

Totally not worth it

Konecny is good but isn’t what we need. We need another bunting. Bennett is that kind of player plus he performs every year in the post season.

We all made fun of Tampa for a 1st for Goodrow. Laughton fits that mold. Watch his game. Great on the forecheck and annoying to play against

Underpay for Bennett. Not even close.

1st for Laughton looks steep initially-- but his term makes it bearable. Still not sure it's a worthwhile use of cap space.

You can't actually be arguing that Kerfoot, a late second and a late third are worth Bennett, right? They gave up two seconds for Bennett in the first place, he's now much better than he was. If they want to dump cap, they'll move Duclair or hornqvist

Hornquist and Duclair is on LTIR they lose cap space if they trade them…

We have the leverage in the Benett negotiations. Florida doesn’t have cap space. Teams let Vrana pass through waivers because of cap. This ain’t an underpay in terms of cap value but I will will say it’s an underpay in terms of the talent Florida is getting back. We gotta remember we seen Fleury get moved for a contract fresh of a Vezina season.

As for Laughton is looks like an overpay but he’s gonna be worth it. Everyone said Tampa overplayed for Hagel, Coleman and Goodrow. Players like Laughton helps a team like Toronto get over the hump

The Leafs should keep the equally effective Engvall and Kerfoot and then go in next summer with 7.65m in cap and their 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounders.

But will the leafs get the same quality of players next year?

It’s not only about being going all in for 1 year. Now is our contention window

Sam Bennett for that garbage, Yeah Florida definitely passes.

Thinking that Scott Laughton gets a 1st round pick is even more laugh
