He's a centre and a good faceoff guy, he scores plenty, is a great passer and very, very good defensively.

He's only 23, cheap and is on the cusp of really breaking out. With the amount of left wingers we have, we have to deal a few of them and centres are something we need. This is a great deal for Detroit.

I agree with aedoran, With Vrana's uncertainty and Bertuzzi a pending UFA. I'm not sure i make that deal unless a 2023 1st round pick is coming back.

Even if both Bert and Vrána are gone we still have too many left wingers. Fabbri, Kubalík, Berggren, Söderblom, Erne with Veleno and Rasmussen and Suter also as left wingers as soon as we upgrade our centres.

In this scenario Růžička would immediately take Veleno's centre spot and he'd be on the left wing.

Obviously i don't take either Erne or Suter into account, As hopefully both are gone by the trade deadline if not before.

Suter won't be traded unless we first add a centre from somewhere. There's no way Yzerman leaves us with only four centres for the rest of the season, it'd be a disaster in case of injuries.

Do check out Adam's stats. He is already scoring close to what Kubalík does and he's a whole lot better defensively and Kubalík is currently playing bottom-6.

Not really getting the Erne and Kubalik comparisons, Erne currently has 13 points on pace for 28 points and Kubalik currently has 30 points on pace for 62 points.

As far as Centers are concerned we've plenty in GR, That can take over the C position until next season.

Adam Růžička not Adam Erne. Why would I compare Erne with Kubalík when the trade is between Adam Růžička and Kubalík.

There's no way that Criscuolo or Andreasson can step up and fill a spot in any way close to what Suter can do. There's no way in hell Yzerman would put the team in that position.

Also, there's no reason to assume that both Bert and Vrána will be gone for next season. Bert is at an all time low in trade value and Yzerman isn't likely to trade him for scraps if he can be resigned and Vrána is signed for one more season and there's nothing that says he won't come back, at least for next season.

You're getting a little extreme with that. With that said, I do agree this is a good deal for Detroit, but I don't think it's the steal you do. The value is there and I agree with all your points about fit and need, so I think Detroit accepts as well, but this is definitely a win for Calgary too. They add a badly needed sniper, who is still under contract for another year on a very team friendly deal.

Detroit accepts. No retention (his contract is already solid), Detroit gets younger and bigger, and gets another 2nd in a solid draft.

Losing Kuba would hurt, but it doesn’t hurt the team as the Wings aren’t contenders. On the flip side, two of the pieces could end up just as good or better than Kubalik.

I'd take Kubalík over Fabbri and Erne really doesn't fit in to this conversation. Veleno and Suter are centers and if they aren't going to play center they should be traded. So Rasmussen plays either #3C or #4C and we keep Berggren, Söderblom, Fabbri and Kubalik is perfectly fine on the right side.
