A late 3rd will not get Domi at half retained

Then keep him and resign him. I doubt any playoff team will give anything substantial to acquire Domi.

Let's be clear here, I am not "keeping" or "re-singing" anyone, I am not the Hawks and you are not the Leafs.

Now that we have that out of the way, it's largely agreed upon Domi will net a late 2nd at half retained by the insiders. Some say the Hawks make get slightly more. Domi is having a very good year and as such, he also this week said he would like to not be traded and sign with the Hawks again so maybe he stays in a Hawks sweater.

Needless to say, a late 3rd round pick will get beat by other teams if he's on the market.

We'll see. Hockey insiders say a lot stuff that turn out to be false.

I think the second in the Bertuzzi trade should be a conditional to become a first. Engvall has no value in that trade.

That would be fair.

CHI might take an expiring contract back to help TOR clear a little space, but they are not burning a limited resource like a retention slot for just a late 3rd.

Oilers cant afford 3.5 million in cap space and dont need to spend 3.5 million on a 4th line center.

Considering everyone feels Bertuzzi has this crazy injury history, which he doesn't, it could be based on games played.

Since Ken Holland is going to sign Kerfoot in the off-season anyways, why not jump the gun and acquire him at the deadline? The Oilers could use another dependable bottom six scorer who can move up the line up if required to do so.

I would rather prefer the Leafs to use a 1st then trade any of their top prospects, especially for a rental like Bertuzzi.

Talk about a lame garbage offer for Bertuzzi, A 3rd/4th liner in Engval and picks that are 2 and 3 drafts away respectively.

Yzerman can easily re-sign Bertuzzi and let his value climb and then move him. No way would Yzerman accept that trash offer. Moving Bertuzzi within the division will be more painful than that lame offer.

I think that trading Justin Holl entails a tremendous amount of risk.

Let me reiterate. Because we don’t have cap space. We don’t have cap space.

Someone else would give up more for Bert than that. With those futures being years off and Pierre Engvall topping out as a bottom 6 guy, you're really shopping in the Suter, Sundqvist or Kubalic section.
