No chance hawks lessen their return by trading Kane and toews together

That would be one of the biggest trade deadline deals... but it would never happen.

Starting to think if WPG were to go for it then this year would be the year. This lineup is pretty solid and the numbers do work but would WPG be able to get Toews and Kane? IF we could get a Severson instead of Schenn and somehow make the money work then this lineup would be even better. Tall order but why not try (OK dream).

Assuming Kane would waive for Winnipeg, and that the Hawks would package Toews and Kane in a single deal, I don't think the value is too far off but the pieces aren't quite right. Hawks probably don't want Heinola. They have a pipeline full of left shot D prospects, including three who were on Canada's WJC team. Hawks would probably want another pick or another F prospect instead.

Thanks for the feedback, Heinola is NHL ready vs those others that will take 2-3 years...something to think about

I don't think this gets you close to Kane & Toews. You have the 2023 1st and another high pick. But there are no high end forward prospects here. Chibrikov is in Russia, and having a bad year. His stock is way down.

We have plenty of D ready to start playing NHL minutes. Good forward prospects needed. 2-3 years is right in the Hawks timeline to try and compete.

Valid point. And I admit I dont watch a lot of Jets games so not totally familiar w/ Heinola's game. But Hawks have both Issac Phillips and Alex Vlasic in AHL who are ready for NHL ice time. I think management just doesn't want them around all the losing Hawks are doing right now

I kinda want to make a Jets ACGM now and see how that could work. Although, I would change up the CHI trade a bit.

Severson only works with one of Pionk/Schmidt leaving. I also cant see NJD trading him when they are a top team

We have NHL ready guys as well in the system. Heinola doesn't offer us anything the Hawks don't already have with the current logjam of young defensive players/prospects especially on the left side.

Actually I was thinking more like Severson for DeMelo and a forward like Appleton or a prospect. Unfortunately no one will take on Schmidt contract without asking for more and we should not be giving up on Pionk. Think NJD is looking to acquire a decent forward but I don't know if Appleton fits. DeMelo would fit great on 3RHD with less of a salary and signed for 1 more year. Looks like Severson will hit free agency if he doesn't get traded.

Cap is the issue...unless NJD retains the difference as its only this year for Severson

You have Arizona retaining on Kane and Toews so pretty sure Chevy could find someone other than NJD to retain on Severson. Anahiem?
