Honestly, that should work and EDM should do it. They can't keep wasting McDavid. It's a high price to pay but 100% worth it.

Lavoie's looking like a depth player at best at this point; Puljujarvi is a $3M reclamation project, so sending the 2nd isn't going to be enough to get Mayfield, in my opinion. The Josh Manson deal is the archetype I'd look at, and Lavoie just isn't the same level of prospect that Drew Helleson was - not to mention that the Islanders are taking extra cap off your hands. Needs to be the 1st or a better prospect.

Aside from Holloway / Broberg / Bourgault which prospect(s) would NY be looking at

the problem, to me, is that after those 3 names there's really not much there - Edmonton's system is notably top-heavy, with those 3 and Reid Schaefer being the only guys I'd want to target in a trade. If Schaefer were on the table, I'd take it, but no one from the Savoie/Lavoie/Tullio tier of guys really stands out as a guy who's going to be much more than a depth guy.

Change the 2nd to a conditional 2024 1st, then the 2024 1st in the chychrun trade slides to 2025, 1st goes if Mayfield helps us reach the finals

i'd want easier conditions on the 1st (ie, Mayfield plays 50.1% of the games, Edmonton wins two rounds) and mayyyybe something like a future conditional mid-rounder that only conveys if the first condition isn't met. the more of a rube goldberg device we can build out of conditional picks, the happier i am, honestly
