Whether he's elite or not, I think he's exactly what the Oilers need at 2LD. What's the upper limit for what you'd offer for him?

Physicality and intensity. While I'm fully aware of his limitations as a player, I think there's some truth to the narrative going around that the team is lacking in 'grit' and a certain dimension of personality that often comes with it. Something like a mix of 'swagger', 'type-A personality', and consistent lunchpail work. Adding him and Jeannot alongside Kane's return would address this IMO.

So you'd agree with CD and say it's an overpayment? What would be the lower limit that you'd accept for him? As for Jeannot, I very much enjoy him so that's a no go :P

I think people focus too much on ekholms age. Hes still going to be good to very good for 2-3 years. Edmonton needs the help now not years down the road. I really like broberg which is why i want him back in a trade involving ekholm but hes still 2 or 3 years from being a really effective dman.

Ekholm would be a great player for edmonton
Experience as 1st and 2nd pairing dman. Helps shoulder load from nurse which should allow him to be more effective. Durable with not a long injury history (has missed like 17 games over 7 seasons). Can pass and skate the puck. Would be a good partner stylistically to Bouchard who plays a similar game to Carrier.

The only other dman id consider from edmontons standpoint is chychrun but his injury history scares me. Hes missed something like 30% of the possible regular season games since entering the nhl. Wouldnt concern me as much if it was just one season but it is almost every single season. Only seasons hes played more than 90% of the games was the covid shortned season and the covid bubble season. Hes going to cost a fortune as well.

As another said, save the draft capital and dont get jeannot.

He's becoming an effective defenseman already. Check out his past 5 games... small sample size I know, but he's showing something right now.

In the last 5 games at 5v5:

#1 in expected goals against per 60 (1.78 ga per 60)
#1 in defensive zone starts per 60 (9.6 dzone starts/60 compared to kulak who is the last on the team with 3.87/60)
