Barrie is by far the best player in that trade with Edmonton. Have them giving up quality picks as well is a huge no.

Very different ways to impact the game but Barrie quarterbacks the undisputed best pp in the league the team relies on heavily to win games. He's played alot better than this site will credit him for. Edmonton isn't going to fix issues by moving out the players pulling own weight. Not only is a horrible message to the team and leadership group which Barrie is part of its also not really accomplishing anything risking paying alot for a big step backwards. I'd be interested in Edmonson if on expiring deal and to make money work someone like kulak who hasn't been helping the team was involved.

People are forgetting Owen Beck, Logan Mailloux as very real roster spots for next season. Both of them are having great seasons.

Then, Heineman & Kapanen are future line mates of Beck on 3rd line. Montreal has the most picks in entire NHL in last 3 seasons. We don’t need to keep bringing players, we have good ones coming.

Not next season but in a year or two, add Mesar, Hutson, plus 2 first round picks from this year.

its not a step backwards. it is constantly shown that what edmonton needs is a stable defense and edmuson is perfect for the 2LHD role. its obvious barrie isnt hte answer

I saw Zucker, Mysak (that is struggling at Laval), Gauthier, Tyson Barrie, plus Primeau that I’m not sold on. I think Dobes has a higher ceiling than Primeau.

I could QB the "undisputed #1 PP in the league" when one of the (if not THE) greatest player on the planet is on that PP. Barrie's points are mostly assists from playing with great players, not from being great himself. Anyone can give the puck to McDrai and pad their stats.

Barrie obviously isn't the answer for the left d situation but moving him to help fix that is just creating a hole on the right side where they are getting more than fair contributions from so that's where the step back comes from even larger once Edmonson lands back on ltir. That point will have a huge hole on both sides. Easy huge pass

Then why hasn't nurse ever done what Barrie does on pp? Why hasn't bouchard taken that spot for cheaper? Maybe it's time to credit Barrie for being a very quality nhl player that has very positive effects on the game. ...

I still believe Barrie is serviceable but his stats are padded from playing with McDrai.
