You're off by an additional third rounder on Gavrikov and the Nyquist trade should be a late second. The value for Roslovic, only with that kind of retainage, is probably close.

Far too low for Nyquist, especially retained.

Shouldn't be; it's been pretty common knowledge for a while now.

I know some pretty bad dmen have returned 1st rounders but are you really gonna bank on that?

I don't know the player that well but other than the fact he plays big minutes he doesn't seem very effective.

He's a pretty solid #3 who's being forced to be a #1 because of injuries on a team where almost none of the forwards know how to backcheck effectively with a coach who's trying to impose a system whose approach to defense is so technical few if anyone can follow it consistently. It's a g-ddamn mess and it makes all of our blueliners look like horror shows.

Don't forget that after retainage he's only got a $1.4 million cap hit and only has a -4 this year playing every game on a team who's 31st in GAA. Half of the defensive core is currently made up of bottom pairing AHL defensemen with all of the injuries that have happened. He's the only defenseman the Jackets have that's been worthy of having Gudbranson's contract.

We got 1st/3rd for Savard a few years ago who is of similar value and with the current cap crunch we can still retain half and possibly take Puljujärvi's contract for even further value for EDM to make other moves.

I posted a counter-offer to Roslovic trade, but like so many other ACGMs that deal with Columbus, it got deleted.

You could say the same about for instance Tyler Myers. His contract ends next season. Do you think he will return a 1st round pick at the 24' deadline as an expiring deal? Statistically they seam very similar. Play more minutes than they should, somehow have a better +/- than you'd expect, horrible possession stats. If the Canucks retained 50% his cap hit would be 3 mil which at the deadline would be totally fine.

With all that being said will he return a 1st? My answer is highly highly unlikely. Though we have seen a few really bad trades at the deadline. I just can't expect it for Gavrikov or Myers.

I can't wait to trade Tyler Myers at the 24' deadline then. 1st +

Don't be absurd. Myers is paid more than double what Gavrikov is, and he doesn't lead a pairing, and Vancouver isn't in nearly as much of a defensive hellhole.

There's gonna be a lot of people shocked here in a few months. Players like Gavrikov always get a 1st+ for depth every single year at the trading deadline. Especially this year as flat cap made it even more valuable for a low AAV defensemen/selling team can retain 50% with whom can play deep minutes if needed.

The cap hit will be no issue. At the deadline teams have plenty of money to add a player or two. Could also give back an expiring or retain 50% which makes it 3 mil. I literally made all those points in my last post. Myers plays a more premium position RD. Has played top 4 mins his whole career basically. The Canucks have more goals against than Columbus. If you wanna say absurd tell me why.

I'm not expecting Myers to return a 1st at all btw. Im just saying what's the difference between him and Gavrikov? Their counting stats are underlying numbers are very similar.
