I don't think you'd get a lone first for Provorov, let alone 2. On top of that, you want the Canes starting goalie? Gardiner is a nothing entity at this point. He's unlikely to return, his deal is insured, and it doesn't cost anything to have him. This is an easy pass.

Even if the Flyers finish last they won't get Bedard. The NHL has his team already picked out.

If Buffalo was at least in the hunt at the TDL, they could use another RHD.
Braun's current value is about a third, but if the market is right he could return even more.
So the Sabres would get a RHD, retain 50% of JVR salary for 1/4 of the season ($1,750,000) for a RHD and 2nd.
If Karmanos was confident that he could flip JVR at the TDL for at least a second he may make the deal.
