We signed Frank Vatrano to a three-year contract on the first day of free agency this past summer. It would be moronic of us to trade him after 1/3 of his first season because we'd be creating enormous problems for us in signing free agents in the future. Moreover, the value of three seasons of Frank Vatrano is a lot more than the remainder of this season of rental Alex Kerfoot, an undersized B prospect and an over-the-horizon dart throw.
Noel Acciari is a proven NHLer. He has almost as many points this season as Joey Anderson has in his career. That package is virtually worthless.
Blue Jackets aren't trading Boone Jenner. Aside from being their captain, he's signed for three more years at a very affordable price. A future first, a bottom-6 rental and two B prospects doesn't get you a top-6 forward, let alone with multi-year retention.
