Yea why they ever traded MM and Marino for Petrey and Smith is beyond me

Can Pens fans tell me why they traded Marino without getting a solid forward back in return? I kinda get the Petry trade but still confused.

If it makes you feel any better MM has been in the clinic a year. He's played less than 10 games.

I assumed the Rutta was his replacement and they were going to use the extra savings to sign a forward a good forward

Yup, these trades were truly atrocious. Petrey one just made absolutely no sense at all from the start. Marino one maybe would've made sense if we used his cap space for a bigger signing or brought up Ty Smith, but we literally just replaced him and their space and Matheson with Petrey and Rutta, two worse players imo. Combine that with the Kapanen and Carter signings and I think Hextall's run has been a disaster. Wouldn't shock me if he's gone if we lose first round.

I absolutely hated that Archibald signing but will absolutely eat crow on that - he's playing amazing haha. For what you need him to do at least
