As much as I think Mitts is a blackhole right now, I wouldn't do that Vancouver trade. I dislike Myers even more

To me, moving mittelstadt is almost addition by subtraction. I still wouldn't do it, I just want no part of myers near this team.

so myers is the 7th d man after jok gets healthy but he is big step up from the call ups from ahl. seems minor but the 4th rounder was biggest piece in trade.

myers is improvment of fits and clague, but will be 7th guy when jok is healthy.
Pull is a mid 6er and just needs to be free of Edmonton and get some confidence playing in different system.

That and the 3.5m extra Buffalo is eating

So your ideas are:

Put a $6mil guy in the 7th defenseman spot
and
Bring in a former top5 pick, & so he can be “free” - but play him with mediocrely talented linemates

team is consistently down a couple d men, so depth is vastly needed and that price tag means no one else can take him on.
jost was top 10 pick and danato is place holder until one of the 4x 1st rounder forwards we picked in last 2 drafts is ready.
but regardless lots of players just dont play well under certain systems. tage is a good example on what i hope for.
so umm yeah this makes team better for very low cost and without mortgaging future.

why do you think Myers is so bad when he is 2nd highest min/game on Vancouver for D. clearly coach thinks he's capable enough.
what do you expect out of a 3rd line as well.
the one i put together there is hard working fast line. that's all you really need there they aren't supposed to be 50 point guys with 20 goals.
depth is the whole reason buffalo lost to canes in conference finals if your old enough to remember being down 4 of our top 6d in playoffs.
edit( myers aav is 6 but he is getting payed less, so doesn't really hurt team as much finically if that's your concern)

2- i never said Myers was bad, BUT there is ZERO chance that the Sabres (or ANY team) trade for him to be their 7th guy. There’s other- cheaper- guys to get who are decent depth and will cost less to get

3- idk what to tell ya, i think the 3rd line looks more like a 4th line- & a good 3rd line can at least score somewhat. I don’t see your 3rd line doing much of anything- offensively or defensively- to make it stand out as anything but below average
