He’s worth a 2nd but teams know we are in a bad spot with the cap.

Leason can't be traded without first going back on waivers.

I would say switch out Lavoie for Kemp. the Barracuda need better defensive depth, especially on that right side.

True if either of them can stay healthy lol.

The only thing is Merkley will (should) be up with the Sharks as will possibly Cicek, Hatakka, and/or Kniazev. (depending on how many moves we make at the deadline this year and in the offseason). I can't imagine many of Nutivaara, Simek, Megna, and Harrington will be back next year

No but Grier isn't one to rush prospects either. Hatakka maybe. Can't see Kniazev making the NHL yet and Merkley simply hasn't dominated in the AHL yet.

Because we claimed him on waivers this season from Washington.

You can't claim someone off waivers and then turn around and trade them in the same season. Rules stipulate they would have to be waived again, and if they clear, then they could be traded.

I'm pretty sure Colorado just did that with Dryden Hunt

Looks like I slightly misread the rules on waivers. Below is an excerpt from thehockeywriters.com

"Can You Trade a Player Claimed off Waivers?
Players who are claimed off waivers must be offered to the other teams that placed an original claim before that player can be traded.

For example, if a player is placed on waivers and three teams place a claim on him. The team lowest in the standards gets first dibs. If they then decide to trade the player, he would first have to be passed on by the other two teams. If a team places a claim, he’d be theirs. If not, he can be traded."

So, if we were the only team to have placed a claim on Leason, then yes, we could trade him, if anyone else put in a claim then no. I have no idea if its even possible to see who all placed a claim on a player.

That makes sense. I don't think they publish which teams make waiver claims but im sure the league keeps track of it internally
