I think the real could have been for Dubois was the 2022 11th overall, but the Coyotes beat MTL and made a better offer to SJ.

MTL had the 26, 33 and 62. Arizona offered 27, 34 and 45. SJ took the better offer. WPG want a top 15 pick for Dubois.

Good thing MTL drafted Mesar, Beck and Hutson with those 3 picks. And they still can trade for Dubois next summer.

2023 is a way better draft. I think a top 15 pick should be enough for Dubois, especially if WPG is starting a rebuild.

Why would the jets rebuild with how they're performing? Everyone assumes that the jets should trade Dubois because he can leave but often don't realize a trash return won't change the idea of keeping a competitive team

Yes, it's pretty easy to see why that offer didn't work, if it was one. The only piece with any quality from Montreal is the 1st, with a couple meh filler pieces.

If Dubois really wants out and refuse to sign a long term extention, and Hellebuyck and Scheifele don't want to extend next summer, Jets will trade them and rebuild/retool. They won't risk a Tavares situation.

Both helle and scheifele have Given indication of staying so if we trade Dubois it's not for under market value think of a Tkachuk situation so either pay up or miss out because we can trade him as a rental for more than that
