They don't suck. Sucking doesn't equate to being average or slightly below average. Schenn doesn't suck, Bear doesn't suck, Dermott doesn't suck, and Burroughs doesn't suck

Well considering their offense isnt bad, yet their still the 6th worst team in the league, I'd consider their D- Core pretty bad, Hughes is the only one I'd consider good and even he is a 1-way player.

Bear has been their 2nd best Dman and He is probably a #4.

The rest have been 3rd pair caliber or worse.

Because...Myers and OEL are both massively underacheiving, they make up a significant chunk of the back end

I wouldn't call Hughes one dimensional. No he's not having a great season defensively, but he's looked to be battling something so there is room to suspect he'll bounce back down the line

Those two particular defenders have sucked for the team, because they're performing so far below an acceptable standard for the role they are prescribed and paid to play. Nobody else on the Canucks back end is underachieving to anywhere near the same extent as those two are, let alone underacheiving at all

Dermott is fine as a 3rd pair defender. He'd be regarded in a much more favorable light if he played in a smaller market most likely
