The Armia trade doesn’t make sense for the isles imo. He’s a fourth line winger who is severely overpaid, and Beau is at worst an average second line winger.

An average second line winger who has been a healthy scratch how many games so far this season? Also making $750K more than Armia and has never crack 40 pts in a season. That's not a second line winger imo. Armia could thrive on the third line with Pageau. He's also a great PK player.

Just figured since the rumours have had Beauvillier out of NY since last year, it was worth a shot.

Beauvillier is better than Armia, it’s that simple. Isles aren’t moving Beauvillier to take back a worse player

There haven’t been any substantial rumors about a beau deal. Also he doesn’t produce at a high clip because of the way they deploy him. He isn’t on the first unit Power Play, and he’s been relegated to a puck retrieval role on the Nelson line.

Fun fact: Beauvillier's and Josh Anderson's productivity stats over the past 3 seasons are effectively identical:

Beauvillier last 3 seasons: 149 games, 32 goals, 41 assists = 73 points
Anderson last 3 seasons: 149 games, 44 goals, 22 assists = 66 points

Beauvillier last season: 75 games, 12 goals, 22 assists = 34 points
Anderson last season: 69 games, 19 goals, 13 assists = 32 points

Beauvillier this season: 27 games, 5 goals, 6 assists = 11 points
Anderson this season: 28 games, 8 goals, 2 assists = 10 points

And, of course, Beauvillier costs 75% of what Anderson costs.

Obvious from the imbalance between Anderson's goals and assists is that the two play an entirely different kind of game, but suggesting that Armia plus an early fourth equals either player is just cuckoo.

The best thing the Devils could do would be to let Blackwood go. Montembeault I dont think has a market. Akira Schmidt in Jersey looks like the real deal.

To get any value on Armia at this point, you need to retain half of his salary. If the Habs retain 1.7M and you can get a 3rd round pick. 1.7M for a contender would be attractive but it wont be the Isles whom look like frauds and got enough 4th liner plugs.

You dont need to pay to drop Hoffman. Keep him around for the tank.

Edmundson probably gets more. Most pundits are in agreement he will land a 1st.

Armia is seen as 'soft' unlike Josh. That's what plays against his value. Hockey men hate that word.

Say it with me now, "We won't be paying to move Hoffman. Not now, not ever."

Gonna have to add more to Armia, he doesn't hold that kind of value.

Edmundson deal is fair imo, I'm sure I'll be told how ignorant I am for that opinion.

Blackwood is a wildcard, I'll leave that one to NJD fans cause I honestly don't know how he's truly valued there.

I think Blackwood leaving Jersey would be addition by substraction. I dont know how you can trust that goalie when Vanecek/Schmidt have given the Devils goaltending consistency for the first time in years for a playoff push. Goalies hold little value in the best of times. He'd be the type of trade in the same vein as Puljujarvi. Hope and pray for the best.

Personally I'd love to make a move to acquire him if the price is right. Change of scenery to a rebuilding team with little pressure to win right now could really turn him up.

Montembeault has shown a decent improvement from last season after playing with a broken hand all year. I rather they gave him more games especially in rebuilding years. Allen needs more games off. He's been pushed too hard. I dont know how Blackwood would fit especially at that cap hit when they will be trying to have the max cap room at the TDL to be a 3rd party team in trades.

I'm not the biggest fan of Monty, for his salary he's alright but honestly he's not going to be much more than he is now imo. Blackwood, I would think, would be a better option to bet on. Blackwood/Allen tandem during the rebuild is how I would play it. I think it's worth the gamble.

Edit: Then once Allen's contract is up we can go with Blackwood as the sole starter (assuming he works out as such) and have Primeau as the back-up (which is likely his ceiling)

I simply dont feel like goaltending really needs to be addressed until they are close to competing. Colorado found two starters in b2b in years by trade in Kuemper and Georgiev. Goalies simply dont get you to the top but can push you to the end once you are close!

The Habs should be focused on cap flexibility and development. Their cap situation still isnt great next season. This why I dont think Blackwood makes like a good bet, same goes for Boeser. Even if Blackwood performed well, they couldnt afford him next season in another rebuilding year.

I mean that's totally fair too. We could definitely hope to essentially "buy" a goalie when we're ready since we're still gonna be cap strapped. I just like the idea of have options in net since goalies are so hard to predict. We would definitely need to have a busy rest of season/off season to give us some cap flexibility going into the subsequent years if we were to do any acquiring.

I can see KH using MB's prospects as bait to move contracts (mostly because he has said he won't pay with picks to move contracts). He's a crafty one! But I do agree drafting and development should be our main focus. Never hurts to try and swap some current faces if we can make it work, have the team build chemistry from the ground up while we develop various prospects.

In KH I trust...lol
