Description
I like this Oilers team for the cup. Think they’d have as good a chance as anyone.
Great defensive depth. Injuries happen.
Kane comes back for the playoffs. Takes the time to fully heal.

You can’t have Barrie and John on the same team

bruh a team with nurse as the #1D and Janmark-Ryan in the top 6 is not winning the cup. Plus arguably two of the biggest defensive liabilities in the league on D in Barrie and Klingberg. Certainly not like the Oilers forwards are going to play defense to make up for it either.

At best they make to the WCF because their division is mega trash other than Vegas. But they would lose to Vegas.

True, prob makes more sense to just focus on Edmundson and maybe another forward.

It’s too bad you guys don’t have the cap space for Josh Anderson. He would dominate over there. Crazy LTIR things have been known to happen though…

Barrie > Klingberg - duplication of skill set means Klingberg is redundant.

Edmundson isn't worth a 1st and with the cap only rising $1M next year, that 2nd year on his deal is a detriment.

Edmonton rejects both.

Clearly not an Oilers fan... Ceci is 1RD, he's not getting bumped out of this lineup. Ryan over Yamamoto? Lol.

guess we'll have to move that bum Matthews to make some cap for such an elite talent.

wouldn't take anderson on waivers.

Klingberg feels like a bad fit for an Oilers team that already has Tyson Barrie. How many PP QBs do you need, especially on a team with McDavid & Draisaitl?

I don't think that Klingberg is going to bring much more than a first-round draft pick. And I disagree with my friend GeneralLandro in that I think that Verbeek will entertain almost any offer for one. As soon as Edmonton offers the 2024 first, Verbeek will make a few calls and if he doesn't get a better offer, I think that he'll take what's on the table.

P.S. Klingberg's contract specifies that he can't be traded until 2023.

You sound triggered. Cant wait until Matthews walks to UFA. Goes to the Rangers, Leafs get nothing. Full NMC his last year.

The best part is that I'm pretty sure the timing of all trades is based on the Eastern time zone, so Verbeek will still have plenty of time to enjoy his New Year's Eve party once he gets off the phone with whoever's taking Klingberg at 930 PM PST

Personally I think Edmonton is pretty set as far as forwards, once everyone's healthy. Kane fills out the top 6, Foegele stabilizes the 3rd line, and they can ride the top 9 in the playoffs, with the 4th line just being a breather line. If anything, I could see them adding a guy like a Nick Bonino or Marcus Johansson for a mid round pick - cheap depth guys with good playoff experience that bolster the bottom 6 and can move up the lineup in case of an injury or fatigue.

he won't leave but even a Matthews-less Leafs is better than MTL. Rangers can't afford him, UFA timelines don't line up. Not going to AZ. Only viable option is LA. But I would be shocked. Anderson has negative value fyi.
