I think it's more likely than not they do trade him. He doesn't fit their timeline and should have pretty solid value considering his age, performance, and that contract. Get a decent return for him and better your chances for Bedard.
That’s expensive how are you gonna pay all three of them at once?
Knowing Marchand he will probs take a discount to allow it like Bergeron did. Caps probs gonna be around 94-96mill so its doable
So probs would see like
12mill Drai
9.75mill Pasta
3mill March
Marchand's deal probs will be 1 year but still would be interesting. As to me Boston's gonna target guys in FA that will speed up their retool once Bergeron and Krejci retire
Arber Xhekaj is apparently worth more than a first round pick now
I guess it depends from which perspective. As a Canadien's fan, I personally wouldn't trade him for a 1st round pick. That doesn't mean he's worth it though.

Why wouldn’t you trade him for a first round pick? Especially if it is in this draft which is super stacked? Xhekaj has low upside. Pretty much every first round pick, and even second round pick in this draft has a higher ceiling

I wouldn't trade him for a 1st simply because of what he brings. There's literally 0 replacement for him in the NHL. A Hard Hitting Aggressive defender that can defend and who can also transition and create offense. His upside is really a #4 but Ideally I see him as a #5 kind of guy. There could be an argument for early 20's in the draft I'd do, but I don't think you're going to get much better than him in the later round and especially the 2nd. No point in taking that risk to get a depth level player.

Yeah that makes sense but the Yotes seem to be on mission this year to beat every top team for no reason
Canucks fans still can’t seem to understand that the canes don’t want Horvat
Dont get why he would be an upgrade over what they already have. Like for 2023/2024 Canes C core could be (Aho, Horvat, KK, Staal (if he signs a cheaper extension))
Like Canes will have the money to extend Horvat to his extension

They badly need a 2C. It's written in the sand. Perfect fit.

Fans don’t wanna have to pay for him. They have the assets to do it, they shouldn’t trade morrow but anything else should do. Prospect and pick wise

Apparently they are lacking a true 2C. Wasn't Necas supposed to transition to center? As for Avs fans, they insist that they don't need Horvat, however Horvat has more points than JT Compher, and Alex Newhook combined, and twice the amount of goals combined
