That's the only place it works really. Can't shake up the top 6 again, they've been 9-4-1 since snapping their 7 game losing streak and putting the lines back. It's the most sheltered minutes Phillips can get without playing in a checking role, you just have to hope Coleman and Backlund can elevate his 200 foot game enough that he doesn't have glaring holes in his 200ft game. It's worked for Ruzicka so far, tough to move him off of there. I'd be shocked if they sit Lewis of Lucic at this point due to his time on the PK and with Phillips drawing in there will be a need for the 4th line to take on a few more D Zone starts.

It just seams like the wrong time to call him up once everything is going smoothly.

4th line needed an overhaul big time. Lucic and Ritchie played a touch over 5 minutes last night, a lot of special teams effected that but it wasn't just that. I think the timing of the call up is right, I just think it's the wrong type of player, if you're looking to fix the bottom 6 you would think that they would be looking at a Pelletier with a strong 200 ft game or a Zohorna/Klapka/Duher type guy that's all energy.

I hope he can find success on the third line with Coleman and Backlund like Ruzicka has but the other two will need to do some serious sheltering.

I would absolutely shake the Top-6 up again. Lindholm, Huberdeau & Toffoli are fine together on the Power Play (or when the opponents net is empty), but 5on5/Even Strength, they just aren't producing much. Dube -2, Mang -2 with Kadri -1 was once again a very weak line defensively at Even Strength last night.

I really don't understand why we would remove our Best Producer out of the Top-6, let alone the Top-9. Ruzicka is absolutely on Fire with 15 Points in 16 GP = 0.94PPG, if anything you want to be giving this guy MORE ICE TIME, not less. Note, Ruzicka assisted on both Even Strength Goals last night with the opponents having a Goalie in Net.

I personally would run lines more like this:

Huberdeau-Lindholm-Ruzicka
Zohorna-Kadri-Toffoli
Coleman-Backlund-Lewis/Ritchie "SHUT DOWN LINE"
Mangiapane/Pelletier-Dube-Phillips/Mangiapane "ENERGY LINE"

The 4th Line doesn't have to be a "Checking Line" and Sutter will simply reduce the minutes of any line that isn't performing well, but Dube will win just as many FaceOffs and probably more than Rooney or Lewis and he & Mang are magic together Short Handed, so starts in their own D-Zone shouldn't be a huge problem compared to Lucic-Rooney/Lewis-Ritchie who are a complete disaster together in their own zone when they lose the FaceOff (which happens far too often, especially if it was icing, they're tired and one of the Opponents Top Lines comes out).

Until Ruzicka's Play/Production falls off and/or Dube, Mangiapane, Pelletier and/or Phillips start producing more efficiently, this is how it should be. Dube & Mang need to re-earn a spot in the Top-6, both are under performing and need a bit of a demotion/kick in the pants to get going, but they should stay together on the same line.

I'd have put Coleman with Kadri, but we typically like to keep Backlund & Coleman together. Similar to Ruzicka, Zohorna brings More Size and Physicality to the Top-6. He'd be Good at Retrieving & Protecting the Puck and he's a Good Passer, leading the Wranglers with 9 Even Strength Assists; he has a Decent Shot too shooting 14.3% right now.

Why not ? Push Toffoli down to 3rd line and Ruzicka to 4th C (he's played so well, but he would be odd man out). See if it works, if not, oh well.

EDIT: They play Columbus and Toronto next. Not the most physical teams. This is the time to try him there.

I'll take the wins and points, but I wouldn't exactly say things are running smoothly...

Vladar has been the difference maker and is the main reason for us staying in and/or winning any games as of late.

Last Night's 1st Period was absolutely atrocious. At Even Strength, our 1st line just isn't producing, the 2nd line has been very weak defensively with bad line changes and giveaways and the 4th line is too slow and doesn't win enough faceoffs to gain puck possession right away; Lewis went 1/4 on the dot last night, which puts us in a terrible position in our own end, especially after icing the puck. Neither Dube or Mangiapane are producing at a level deserving of Top-6 spot right now

Smooth is a strong word. Our offence is struggling and there are way to many "Sutter" players in the line up. 25th ranked PP in the league, and a 15th ranked plus 2 goal differential isn't spectacular.
