A 2nd round pick for 1.5 mill of retention is wayyy to much. I understand it is for multiple years, but Anaheim is going to be a rebuilder for at least another 3 or 4 years. 1.5 against the cap is not going to hurt at all for them. A 3rd at most

Leafs get Sam Carrick too tho. I think a 2nd + Gaudette for Carrick and a 7th is close to the gap between a 2nd and 3rd. Maybe the Ducks can upgrade the pick to a 6th.

I don't think the canucks do that tbh, Robertson is okay but I doubt we would want another winger, Abramov has no value to us neither does Kerfoot

Slightly better than your last proposal for Boeser but still not worth it for the Canucks.

Nonsense. The retention consumes one of our three retention slots for each of three seasons, so it DOES hurt us, and significantly. And the pick is in 2024, not this season. We wouldn't even entertain the thought of doing the deal for less. And there are four veterans -- Klingberg, Shattenkirk, Silfverberg and Henrique, in order of likelihood -- whom we might want to retain on, and two of them for more than one season.

The signings of Strome, Vatrano, and Klingberg plus Verbeek wanting to be .500 until the TDL says they aren’t trying to rebuild for 3-4 more years.

Not to mention @OldNYIfan ‘s point.

So signing a 3rd line winger and a low end 2nd liner means they aren’t rebuilding? They only signed Klingberg cause for one nobody wanted to pay him a lot and 2 so they can flip him for assets.

Silfverberg is washed nobody is trading for him even half retained, Hes definitely getting bought out in the summer

What I want is a 1st, what I expect we'll get is a 2nd and take back an expiring contract.

You can make a case that the Ducks can and would be the 3rd party in a Boeser trade, but I'm not doing the trade as is here. Why would Anaheim trade away Carrick for a nobody? Sure, Carrick is a bubble 4th line guy himself but he's been a loyal Duck for years. The captain of the Gulls for a bunch of those. He and Eakins go all the way back to the Marlies in 12-13. And finally Verbeek made it a big priority to resign him and for 2 years.

They also aren't tossing back picks in the direction of Toronto. If Toronto wants an extra 6th or 7th get it from Vancouver.

You would rather have a 2nd round pick over Nick Robertson? Lol what?

Not a big fan of Nick Robertson and the Canucks already have a few small, middle six wingers. But as I said, that's the return I expect we'll see.

Okay so lets say Toronto trades Robertson to a team like Arizona for a 2nd and a 5th and flips those picks to Vancouver, would that be better?
