The only way Los Angeles is trading its first to Montreal this season is if Kaiden Guhle is included in the deal and Jake Allen isn't.

-Allen hasn't been much better than Petersen at this point in the season, and LA doesn't have any impetus to clear the cap at this point. I don't see the difference between these two guys being worth a 1st rounder, especially when there are other goalies that will be pending UFAs that LA could target if Petersen doesn't get his head straight in the AHL.

-Dallas passes. First off, even if they send back Khudobin they still don't have the cap space for it (currently $1.1M + Khudobin's $2.2M = not enough to cover Dvorak's $4.45M), second off, Dvorak isn't a major upgrade over either their current 2C(Radek Faksa) or 3C(Wyatt Johnston.) They're currently the 2nd best scoring team per game, and they're in the top 10 of goals against per game. I think any moves they make are going to be for pending UFAs that shore up their margins, not guys with term.

-My usual question for Montreal fans applies: Who does Josh Anderson replace in the Devils' top-6 when everyone is healthy? I assume a team isn't going to give up a 1st rounder for a 3rd or 4th liner, so Anderson has to be good enough to knock someone out of their current top 6, right? So who is it?

-This is more realistic in value than a lot of Monahan/Eddy proposals. Edmonton clears out some contracts that aren't working and get some upgrades. With all the retention and the savings for Edmonton, plus the idea that Monahan actually would fit on their top 6, I can see the value here. I don't know if Edmonton bites, but this actually makes some sense for everyone involved.

Josh Anderson played 22 playoff games in the 2021 playoff run.

two of those games were very good! 2 goals against Vegas including the OT winner in Game 3; 2 goals against Tampa including the OT winner in the only game that the Habs won in the Cup final.

the other twenty games he was completely invisible: 1-1-2 despite averaging 14:37 a night. I mean, kudos for two good games, but when you're basically a passenger 90% of the time I'm not going to get super excited about your playoff production. Even *with* those two big games, Anderson scored at a 22 pts/82 GP pace over the 20-21 playoff run - basically the same playoff production that Scott Mayfield has provided over his career.

okay but how many hits did he throw. that's how you win in the playoffs, as we all know https://twitter.com/yolo_pinyato/status/734134158629339136?s=20&t=_S0D395gIJLoUvGUofCtOQ

So if you want a different comp, Matt Martin has 2 less points this year than Josh Anderson, has 40 more hits than Anderson does, and has a cap hit that's $4M cheaper than Anderson! Should the Islanders be shopping him for a 1st and a prospect then?

I'm using my head - you said that Anderson's playoff value comes from more than scoring. Matt Martin literally put up the same playoff scoring line the year before Anderson (5-1-6 in 22 GP) and had more hits - so using your own logic, isn't he *just* as valuable as Anderson, if not more?

Just trying to understand what Josh Anderson's value is. Montreal fans say it's his scoring, but when you point out that he's basically scored at a 3rd liner's pace throughout his career, they point to his physical side of his game - but then say you're wrong when you tell them you can get a big physical winger to intimidate your oppponents and score at a bottom-6 rate for less than $5.5M per year? I'm so confused!!
