Replace Foegele with Ryan McLeod and I think you've got it. Whether your Edmonton brethren want to give up that much is another matter entirely.

If you’re going to put him on the right side, no…you don’t need him. He isn’t a RD.

Chychrun isn’t worth more than that. Yotes are getting a former top ten pick in broberg a first round pick in a stacked draft and a second along with two other players. Anything above that is an overpay and for the record the oilers do have many strong prospects in the system so they could get a
chychrun deal done.

really glossing over the $7.25M you're sending to Arizona with that "two other players". I think if you take Foegele and Barrie out, I can see a world where Broberg/1st/2nd gets it done. But if you need to shove that much cap out the door, Arizona is going to want more in the deal.

I already included the second round pick to dump barries salary fogeles salary isn’t much when u look at how much cap space the yotes have. If the yotes want a third round pick included for dumping fogele then fine but anything more than that is an overpay.

With how well Barrie has been playing, the fact that every other team sees him as a dump and that we need better dmen I don't see a reason in moving him.

We could replace Barrie with one of Pulji/Yamo in this trade and then try to trade a pick for a rental forward at deadline (forwards seem to be way cheaper than Dmen right now, would likely only cost a 2nd-3rd depending on who we go for).

You’re not getting Chychrun for that. It isn’t a matter of can Arizona fit the salaries under their cap. It’s a matter of actual dollars being spent. Arizona is not going to spend money on contracts they get back just to sit on them.

Move on from the thought of Chychrun if this is what you think is reasonable.

Sure, Foegele's salary isn't that much compared to the cap space that Arizona has. But it *is* quite a bit compared to what Edmonton has - they'd have to knock at least 2 guys off this current roster to accommodate his $2.75M hit this year.

You're also sending back two guys with an additional year at the same hit, so technically Arizona is eating $14.5M over the next 2 seasons for you. Not only that, but both Foegele($6.15M) and Barrie ($9.5M) are owed more in actual money over this year & next than their cap hits - typically the exact opposite of the type of dumps that Arizona targets. If 1 year of Sean Monahan at $6.375M cost Calgary a 1st rounder, I don't see how 2 years of $7.25M is only gonna cost Edmonton a 2nd.

And even beyond that - if you're including that 2024 2nd as compensation for the cap you're dumping on Arizona, that makes the heart of your offer for Chychrun a '23 1st and Broberg. I just don't think that by itself would be enough for Arizona, and that's before you pile on the negative value of the cap you're unloading on them.

Thats why the second round pick is included to dump barrie and I am willing to include a third to dump fogele its not like i am just including these guys without providing the yotes with picks to take them.

Fair enough if ur valuation of chychrun is different than mine but I believe that this trade would be enough.

IF there was a way to make it work - removing Foegele from the deal would be a necessary component. Removing the protection from the pick and adding another pick.

Barrie, Broberg, 1st round pick (unprotected), 2nd round pick & 3rd round pick.

That would be, in my opinion, closer to what would be necessary to acquire Chychrun.

I think the protection anyhow would be a moot point considering the Oilers should get to the playoffs. But when you consider the market for Chychrun’s services, I would imagine there would be a number of teams in the mix that would be willing to send unprotected 1st in their packages.

It's not so much the valuation of Chychrun, it's the value you're putting on the amount of money Arizona's taking off your hands. I think Broberg/1st/2nd is pretty close for Chychrun, and I think that Arizona would even take back a lower cap hit guy like Foegele or Puljujarvi to make it work. I just think adding in 2x$4.5M of Tyson Barrie as a second deal you need to move is going to cost more - Barrie is 31 and spends the next year and a half counting down the days til he's out of the desert, so I don't think Arizona is necessarily gonna see him as a positive asset. His contract is big enough that it's not going to be an easy one to flip, either - so give them *some* value on that.
