Canucks should have no interest in that. No one knows anything about Kylington right now, Rooney is fine but not a value piece and Phillips is a lottery ticket, over age prospect. Canucks should get more quality. Or at least a little more certainty.

They are reportedly going into a rebuild and they want cap and honestly kylingtion could turn into something if not it’s just free cap but Phillips is the ahl leading goal scorer he can definitely be something and a second that’s good

Quality also means more money and the Canucks are reportedly looking to rebuild so they want cap from these deals and we aren’t giving up Pelletier wolf or zary so Phillips is the only option

They are reportedly rebuilding they want cap and kylingtion is a good 3rd maybe 2nd paring defender Philips could be a gem in that trade so that’s a good deal

Kylington is good don't get me wrong, but a left-handed defensman is the last thing the canucks need. Phillips is doing pretty well but the Canucks have a plethora of forwards that are doing relatively well in the A, don't need another.

Matty my man...Let's break this down quickly...

-Kylington fills a very, very small need for the Nucks.

-Phillips being the leading scorer in the AHL is about as noteworthy as the color of my socks today (They're green!). Tell me who the last 6 leading scorers were in the AHL? Can't name 'em? Here's why:

27yo - Andrew Poturalski
29yo - T.J. Tynan
26yo - Sam Anas
26yo - Reid Boucher
23yo - Carter Verhaeghe
21yo - Jeremy Bracco

Now, Verhaeghe is obviously the outlier here...but what do the rest have in common? I'll give you a hint...they're all undersized. Another thing that they have in common? They're all career AHLer/Euro/now in the KHL. To think that 5'7'' 24 Y/O Matthew Phillips is going to buck the trend here is a big 'ol stretch my friend.

-A late 2nd? The probability of that pick playing over 100 games in the NHL is less than 40% (!!!).

-The cap space created by moving a few months of Bo Horvat is irrelevant.

Bo Horvat is on a heater right now. Vancouver needs GOOD futures, not a miss-mash of question marks and mediocrity.

Not necessarily, but I get what you are saying. Kylington is a good piece but a UFA after next season and who knows if he plays this year, could work himself out of the Canucks system before they even get going on a rebuild. I think there are some stipulations around Phillips playing time and age which would let him become a UFA at the end of this season, Rooney more helps Calgary with their cap situation but could certainly be added if need be. Dube, Ruzicka, Mackey are all pieces that are low cost with some term certainty or RFA rights at the end of their current deals, you'd have to think that Ciona, Kerins, Schwindt all fit a rebuilding timeline a little better than Phillips with more control. The Flames just may not have the horses to pull off a Horvat deal without giving up a Zary, Pelletier, Coronato, especially with the season he is having.

Boeser is likely a more realistic target if the Flames don't want to take a big chunk out of the minors pipeline.

“We want your captain who’s one of the league leaders in goals and is a PPG player this year, but we won’t give up good pieces”

Gotta give up quality to get quality
