Description
As per custom on AGM, I (a habs fan) will make a few trades that overvalue our players. However, I'm targeting edmonton and ottawa as their GMs have a history of questionable trades, are looking to fill a hole in their lineup, and are under lots of pressure to do well this season.

Agreed. They make that deal if it's a later 1st. But at this rate? The pick is gonna be too good spend it on Savard and dumping Zaitsez. Maybe there's a another team you could involve in all of this?

Honestly...it's not the most outrageous thing I've ever seen. Honestly, if (when?) someone inevitably overpays for these guys, this isn't thaaaatttt bad.

My understanding is that Edmonton intends to give Broberg a decent shot before jumping the gun on something like this, but I don't *hate* it. Gotta think the Oilers want to save as much cap space for next year as possible though, so that they can sign every Leaf that hits free agency...

For Zaitsev? Again, I don't hate it...gotta be a ton of protection on that pick though.

The Sens always make a late run to ruin any draft positioning. Every metric says they are getting unlucky. Tkahuck has taken a step forward. Batherson is maybe the most unlucky of the bunch and has been fantastic. Sanderson is pretty much an Uber Kaiden Guhle. Talbot has been a revelation in net with better goaltending than they've had in years with a .919 save percentage that beats even the run Forbserg went on late ly.

The pick wont be in the top 10 unless they win the lottery to move up 10 spots

so the Sens are getting rid of a bad defenceman on a terrible contract for another bad defenceman on a contract that is just terrible in a different way, and paying a 1st and a 2nd in the process??? If the Sens are so desperate to get rid of Zaitsev, (which they're not, they can just bury him this year and buy him out for relatively cheap in the offseason), why would they also take on another brutally bad defenceman on a bad, long contract at the same time? They could just send Zaitsev with a 1st to some team with the cap space and call it a day.

Then they just play JBD or get basically anybody else who doesn't have Savard's contract. If the Sens' issue is poor RHD other than Zub, why would they lock themselves in to multiple years of another subpar at best RHD

Brutally bad defenseman that plays on the first pair for a team that has more points in the standings over a bottom pairing D. Yeah, exactly the same defenceman, no difference whatsoever. Mcdavid also isnt that much better than Tkachuk. Both have the same amount of SOG

This

If Dorion does this, he'd better fly to Mars

But with the team being for sale (which might be very soon), I doubt he's even allowed to make more decisions (and damage)

It's 2024 and with new coaching staff and some players getting older/more experienced (Stutzle and Sanderson are 20 for example), I don't think the pick will be that good but also absolutely ZERO chance I trade it for David Savard, a guy I have liked all his career but that I am not adding on the downside of his career.

Batherson has not been fantastic but still creates a lot of offense. He has been lost defensively which is totally natural in a DJ non-system. His defensive awareness is average at best so he needs to be in a good system to be efficient defensively. And you know what they say about good defense creates good offense.

Agreed on most of the rest. Also, the 1st in the proposal was for 2024, not 2023

The countless proposals on trading Zaitsev for picks just open the door for other team fans to abuse the Senators in these ACGMs. That's why I have been repeating ad nauseam that the Sens will just buyout Zaitsev next summer (exactly like they did with Del Zotto). It costs only 1.67 M$ spread over 2 years. It's a NO BRAINER if the cap goes at 86.5 AAV and they will be able to afford everybody

Need to do what needs to be done and continue to repair countless Dorion mistakes.

even if the Sens still want to trade Zaitsev in the offseason rather than buy him out, it'll cost less once he only has 1 year on his deal, and they can do it without taking on another bad contract in return. Trading Zaitsev for Savard (AND SENDING A 1ST AND 2ND WITH IT???) is just the new version of trading Ceci for Zaitsev in the first place

I'd say far worse than the Ceci trade. I mean, where's Connor Brown in this and we only gave a 3rd round pick (instead of 1st + 2nd)

This is actually FAR FAR worse.
