Bunting isn't getting any younger. I'll bet he is looking to get paid this summer.

I think Kampg gets closer to 3m a year. I usually extend him 4-5 years x 3.25m a year. Hard to gauge with guys like that. I have Bunting at 5 years x 4.25m also.

Cap going up will cause some insane contracts also.

Your Kallgren contract is spot on in my mind.

I love me some Connor Brown. I wouldn't be opposed to him or Trevor Moore coming back. My number one want for that slot is Kuzmenko though! But cap may not work.

I think it all looks reasonable; I would prefer a rhd (mayfield or Zub or Jensen) over doumalin; as long as their cap hit stays reasonable @ $4-5M or less. A little rich for Brown but could balance out if bunting or Kampf ask for more.
I hate to see Samsonov go (based on his performance to date) but don’t see how we keep him & Kallgrenn has shown me enough that I’m comfortable with him as backup.

I fear Kampf might price himself out of Toronto. Bunting I have no idea where that's gonna go. He is either going to get Hyman money or stay in the 3's is my guess.
As much as I think Samsonov is awesome, they need the cap space and they need a top 6 forward and some help on D

I hope Kampf and bunting stay but if their demands are not reasonable then we have in house candidates (Holmberg has been impressive + I really like Steeves) and/or their money can be used on FA replacements targeting top 6Ws and 3/4C. I agree - one RHD (stay at home, physical but can skate) to play with Reilly would be ideal

I actually think we are in good shape next year, barring anything unforeseen happening (touch wood 🤞😀). We’re set at most major positions with some internal candidates close; just need two medium signings + a few minor signings to round our squad. Dubas and his team don’t get enough credit for managing cap pretty well.

Given where Bunting is right now, I think that contract is pretty close honestly. Maybe a $250K short.

I don't believe Kämpf is worth more than $3 million, but who knows how crazy someone gets on the open market. I say a great comparable is Sean Kuarly with the Jackets. I frankly think he is better, and making $2.5 million a year. I see a similar deal for Kämpf.

Also, I might add this:

The more time Connor Brown misses, the cheaper he maybe. Would I pay $4 million per for him? Yeah. I would. Ideally I would live to see him at $3.5-3.75 million..... splitting hairs.

Dumoulin I think just flat out gets more..... and not sure how effective he would be on the right side. If he plays left, then who shifts? Sooner look at a Carson Soucy type.

Overall...... this is pretty damn good.

My whole point with signing brown is that I think you can get him on a cheaper deal than you could have before this year. Player like that are risky but hopefully worth the reward. I'd love to pay him less! I just don't think that the leafs can afford another contract over 5 mill next year

Honestly, I don't think they need to sign a anyone who would demand that much money.

If management is committed to the big 4, it is about finding the right fit to complete the line (as Bunting did with Mattews and Marner).

Brown would be perfect frankly. Tenacious, can skate and pot 20. I always said Brown was that player - go back a couple years ago and find my threads where I said he would lol. One player I hated loosing 100%! Best part..... Brown was never going to be a $5-6 million winger..... just that guy that produced 40-50 points on a good deal that complimented lines.

In short, the Leafs don't need impact guys, they need solid complimentary pieces (why I really liked the Jarnkrok signing). And honestly, those guys just maybe in the system right now. Steeves is making a name for himself as a worker bee with great vision. Anderson has to get a shot on the 4th line (producing well as a Marlie while using his body), and Knies I think is going to come in and look an aweful like Erik Cole in his prime - never lit the house on fire but was bloody effective top 6 winger good for 30 goals and 60 points.

The Muzzin injury has just opened up so many options ......

Very well said!
I was hoping they would trade Muzzin before the year started but I think his career is likely over. SUper unfortunate for him but it opens things up for Toronto

I think going into next year, the priority will be adding a physical D.

I am looking at Carson Soucy like a medium rare T-Bone lol. Effective and should be rather affordable. Better, a great bridge after Brodie expires.

After that, look at the market for a top 6-9 LW.

There are affordable options to be sure whether the be via trade or UFA.

Agreed. I'm still sad they let Lyubushkin go. I thought they could have given him the Holl contract and played him with Rielly. Saucy would be sick!
