Lebrun said EDM is interested in Monahan and said MTL is interested in Bourgault.

Wouldn't it be crazy to trade for Monahan, have him on your top 6 and beat Calgary in the playoffs?

Oilers don't need Monahan C, LW isn't a priority, if there are going to trade a asset as big Bourgault it would most likely be for a Dmen

Monahan is right handed, playing RW with Suzuki and Caufield on the power play.

MTL also have Edmundson if you're interested. He's not popular here, but he's a very good playoffs D with 2 years at 1.75M if salary is retained.

The hit he did on Hyman yesterday wouldn't have landed a penalty in the playoffs. He likes to play a mean game.

Ottawa isn't moving Pinto, regardless of Harris' ceiling, Pinto's is higher.

Honestly, Edmonton could use Anderson and Monahan, both would address institutional weaknesses, the big issue for Edmonton is fitting this under the cap AND finding an LD who can improve our soft as butter defense.

Literally what about the Edmonton Oilers make you think they need help in their top 6 and powerplay? I'm sure McDavid, Draisaitl, and RNH is perfectly fine without Monahan

Watching Oilers ACGM and looking at their roster, i think the Oilers are looking for 2 things : a top 6 RW and a top 4 RHD.

You're right they're perfectly fine without Monahan or any other rental. But you can always get better.

At the expense of their best prospect? You do realize that the Oilers traded their chance of getting Jesper Wallstedt in order to draft Bougault. If he gets traded, it will be for a far superior player like Patrick Kane

Bourgault is worth a 1st at best. If he is traded, it will be in trade for any player they want, and will be valued as a 1st in that trade.

If they want a rental worth a 1st, or a rental worth two 1st, that's their choice. I don't think him being their best prospect or not getting Wallstedt have anything to do with that.

Since you are so high on Monahan, what do you think the Canucks can get for Bo Horvat? Bo is superior in just about every aspect of the game. He must be worth multiple first round picks and good prospects then right?

Damn this is really something else... or maybe just a routine MTL ACGM

I blame MTL medias, always overhyping anything that plays for them

My grandmother would be worth a McDavid if she was playing for the Habs

I'd say at least a 1st and a good A/B+ prospect like Barron. Lehkonen got a 2nd and Barron... I'm not as high on Monahan as others MTL fans.

I think Monahan will get a similar return as Detroit got for Copp last year. Could be Monahan for Bourgault if Oilers aren't high on him anymore or don't wanna risk their 2023 1st in a condition.

A 2023 first is worth more than Pinto or Bourgault...doesn't matter where in the top 32. The upcoming draft is crazy.

The beauty about Monahan, is he is is so good Montreal will end up pulling a Trifecta: getting a pick initially to take his salary, then getting a pick or 1st round prospect by the TDL (probably sooner) becasue he is playing as well as he ever has...then after he maybe wins a cup, re-signing him for the next 3 years as a UFA.

;-)
