Awful for every team that isn't Montreal. There are bad trades every once in a while, but in general teams don't give up high end assets for garbage.

I think the value favours MTL a little too much, but I think there is a fit for these trades. Personally, I don't really wanna see the habs resign monahan and I don't wanna trade for PLD but interesting ideas

Detroit won't be buying at the TDL and with their LHD prospects they really have no need Edmundson.

So for the millionth time COL isn’t giving up their only pick in the deepest draft that was a cap dump 4 months ago, hasn’t had a 30 point season since 19-20 and wouldn’t be able to resign. I mean has anybody out of MTL fans said Monahan after being dumped with a first not for a first think he’s going to net a 1st rd pick? Needless to say COL says no because the only thing they need right now is to get healthy.

Can we all just agree that these Monahan moves only come from hab fans? I don't think I've seen one where he was not on a Montreal agm so maybe instead of repeatedly making everyone that sees them cringe maybe wait for someone to come up with one? Oh wait because he won't get a 1st omg I just want him to be extended rn and everyone that is trying to trade him instantly turn around and say Kent Hughes W because they blindly follow any moves he makes

No more annoyed with how much Hab fans are oblivious to people saying the same thing over and over to them and they proceed to make another Monahan for a 1st to mostly Colorado. What if I just started constantly making caufield trades and never listened to anyone that fair?

Yeah wouldn't you be if repetitively someone doesn't listen to you and does the exact same deals like it's not the trades that get me more the lack of respect in the sense when people tell you "hey a 1st is a no go" you double down on that pride and just flat out say they are wrong because of the deals in the past like the market constantly shifts in values, buyers vs sellers and at this point in time Monahan most likely won't be traded for a first with the teams that are competing most likely not having strong prospects

Man, all I pointed out was that you were a little sour about it. I don't honestly care about it one way or another. As far as I'm concerned, MTL already has one 1st out of the Monahan deal so we're already coming out ahead.

Yeah, I hear ya'. But guys like him can't make a logical rebuttal to a your point, so they resort to childish flaming or name calling. They're not here for discussion, just to be as unreasonable and inflammatory as they possibly can.

If they think their player has value, logic, common sense and reality won't shake their opinion.

Hey, sell me your house for what it was worth when you bought it, values don't change, i heard it from some guy on hockey website that things can't change and people should only listen to them because they yell about it frequently enough.

Implications of value remaining fixed is a wonderful example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Not a Habs fan, but I think Monahan is going to yield a return, a late 1st with 50% salary retention and a cap dump coming in return is not out of the question for the current parity in the league, and some teams are seriously under performing (Florida, NYR, Colorado, and the Oilers) or experiencing injury depth issues.

So COL is underperforming when they played basically the entire season being in a playoff spot and missing 4-9 regulars including multiple guys in the top 6 and almost half the season missing 2 of their top 4 dmen?

Yeah values change my guy but you’re trying to tell me right now somebody is giving up a 1st for Monahan 50% retained for a guy who hasn’t scored 30 pts in 3 years and is tracking for 50 for the first time since 18-19? If he has 50 at the deadline sure maybe somebody ponies up but COL isn’t that team right now and COL isn’t trading their only pick in the first 5 rounds for a guy they can’t re-sign even if he performs like it’s 18-19.

point #1 - Apparently you didn't finish reading my post, which you quoted "or experiencing injury depth issues", reading long sentences can be hard, i understand.

    point #2 - I'm not "your guy"

point #3 - yeah, Tampa traded 2 firsts for Hagel, Florida traded a 1st for Chiarot, Copp has never broken the 40 point plateau, and essentially got a conditional 1st.... it happens, whether you choose to gaslight or not, history is history.

point #4 - you cherry pick "tracking since 18-19 for over 50 points, included 2 injury seasons and 2 shortened seasons.

point #5 - to your house having no value, who cares what happened the previous 3 years, teams will pay for what he can do now, not what happened, we're not talking a contract extension, we're talking deadline acquisition, I don't think any GM in the league cares what he scored in 19-20, they care about what he can do now.... and what he has demonstrated now is, he can center his own line, he can play up the lineup in a wing position, and potentially do so for a pro-rated $3M..... that has value. (contrary to people yelling over and over "he was a cap dump 4 months ago)

point #6 - Colorado was an example of a team who could consider it (supposition), may even consider re-signing him cheap if he gels well, I don't think Monahan is going to get any 7 year offers, and again, other teams are in the mix, so, a better picture of how many buyers, and what are the situation will depend on who's ranked where come TDL time. If Colorado is outside a playoff spot, with no expectation of LTIR's coming to an end before the playoffs (Kuchervo style), then, they may feel the push to make the playoffs, context and circumstances matter, not ignorantly yelling "cap dump" over and over again hoping someone with half a brain accepts that as a valid response

I know, that was a lot of sentences again, I got tired halfway writing it, reading it must be even harder, i apologize for that, my guy. smile
