I could see the Rangers trading Lafreniere this summer if he doesn't want to stay. While an offer sheet is unlikely, Lafreniere might be one of the best candidates in a long time due to his sky high potential versus what the Rangers should and could pay him based on his current performance. If Montreal picks near the top 10, that would probably be the centerpiece that makes sense for Lafreniere. Although, if he signs an extension with the Rangers before free agency I doubt they would even think about trading him.

That a big no for mtl while Lafreniere could be a good piece in rebuilding I don't see Hughes or Gorton paying Dach, Guhle and Xhekaj to obtain something.

They would move out Veterans like Anderson, Monahan, Edmundson, Drouin, Armia, Hoffman, Dadonov to obtain asset to help the rebuild and could probably use prospect of lower value like Leskinen Norlinder to sweeten the deal.
