Many insiders are saying teams are interested in Anderson. Dreger just added Dallas to that list today.

When he is traded for a 1st, comments like yours are gonna look really bad.

As an Oilers fan, what even is this?

If you're going to trade away the dead weight from this team, you can't expect to get value back.

I don't see any value coming back lol
    Anderson is toast
Brannstrom was over hyped, not a bust but not a top pair Kurashev is a small bottom 6 forward
Mitchell is another overrated Dman that will end up being a bottom pair guy/7th dman

JP IS NOT worth Kurashev and Mitchell at this point. I would certainly be willing to make a gamble on JP but EDM would have to sweeten the pot quite a bit.

I don't see the Oilers doing any of this. Just because pretty much every player on the team is underperforming so far this year (besides Nuge, Hyman and Skinner) doesn't mean they suddenly have less value. This is a silly overreaction from a non-Oilers fan.

Why? Yamamoto adds less than nothing to this team and the extra year of term makes him unsuitable as a cap dump.

    And remove Brannstrom

Benson is not worth anything and the Sens don't want either of Barrie or Zaitsev's AAV next season.

Barrie is more expensive to buyout

Nobody buys out a 50 point defenseman making just $4.5M x 1. Don't be ridiculous.

There's little PP time to be had in Ottawa but you're right, a pick would need to be added in that swap

However, Ottawa doesn't make this swap as Barrie is not a need. Zaitsev buyout is the simple and cheap solution (like they did with Del Zotto)

Since joining the Oilers Barrie has scored 1.11 P/60 at 5v5. Over the same span (2+ seasons) Chabot has scored 1.12 P/60. The 'PP specialist' narrative is false.

Nobody is buying out the last year of Tyson Barrie's deal. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

If the Sens make this deal, then they'd be forced to buy him out, which is why they would NOT make this deal.

This is what I have tried to explain.

I think keeping Zub, DeBrincat, extending Pinto (and maybe Formenton) is much more important than having Zaitsev (or Barrie)

I'm not saying a team acquiring Barrie would buy him out, of course.

    Is it more clear now?

That's silly. Nobody would be forced to buy him out. If the Oilers were stupid enough to make this trade, the Sens could turn around and trade Barrie for more assets. That's how the league works. Talk of a buyout is just ignoring reality.

ok you're the type of "you understand fast but we have to explain you for a very long time" lol

I am NOT saying Barrie would be bought out by the team that would intentionally acquire him

I am saying that IF Ottawa makes that stupid trade they would be forced to buy him out to NOT lose DeBrincat or Zub

    As of now :

    - 3 teams have a lot of cap space but they are in the middle of their rebuild and their young stars will start getting costly too

    - 24 teams have 2M$ or LESS in cap space (20 less than a 1M$). Teams have to do a lot of gymnastics just to stay cap compliant

    - only 5 teams have more than 2.5 M$ in cap space (but less than 5.3). One of these teams is the Ottawa Senators and I can tell you that they will be absolutely against the cap next season

    - we have no idea what the cap will be next year, nothing is official. As of now it's $83,500,000 and pretty much all teams will be tight against the cap so we will see more good players like Pacioretty, Bjorkstrand or Burns DUMPED for basically nothing. Barrie will most likely not be a priority so it's not certain he will be moveable, despite how great you think he is

So you see, there is what we call CONTEXT in the real world and in the reality, the Sens are not acquiring Tyson Barrie, even for free (or that would just be another really stupid Dorion move)

The plan is to buyout Zaitsev, not to trade him for a player they don't need and who would be more expensive to buyout...

I would bet a lot that you still won't get it.

lol @sensfire, you really liked his post?

Quotes Barries 5v5 points, fails to quote that that Barries has averaged under 1/3 of his TOI against Elite competition in that time frame.

He's an okay defenseman, on an okay contract, who relies on secondary assists for nearly 40% of his points, and nearly 50% of his points come on the PP, and his CF% floats around 50% total, and is below that mark against Elite competition, he's a PP specialist.

He's not a play driver, he's mooching off of McD and Drai to pad his stats, there will be little demand for him when his contract is up, he'll be a lesser replica of Klingberg.
