But why? Pens fans in every thread is trading Dumoulin, it seems his game has fallen off a cliff and there is no point in trading Mitts for him. Although he will probably still be better than Bryson and Fitzgerald, but not for Mitts.

Mitts is terrible. Dumoulin is a significant upgrade over Bryson even if his game fell off. He doesnt put up a ton of points but in a bottom pair role his D numbers arent bad and may improve still. Its at the very least addition by subtraction as they will be forced to play Krebs in a position where he can succeed and not on the 4th line between Girgensons and Hinostroza

The problem here, like with fans of any teams on here, is that there are Pens fans who are completely clueless.

Dumo is not a 1st pairing dman anymore, that's a given, but he's far from trash. He's still a very effective dman, but in a more sheltered role. That said, I don't know that I'd make this trade. I'm not sure what to make of Mittelstadt, but for his pricetag and his production, it doesn't make much sense for the Pens who are a cap team.

What is he wrong about? Mitts metrics for three years confirm that he is bad, this is not a sample of 10 or 20 games, but three years. He doesn't score points at ES, he's bad on defense, he's not physical, even his FO percentage has dropped below 50%. He has almost no chemistry with anyone. So it looks like it's true, even Granato said our third line sucks at 5v5.

No, I did not say that he should be trade for Dumoulin, I myself don't like this trade, but Mitts is simply not good and I am not opposed to trading him in some kind of deal.

i dont like mitts either and want him traded. However he holds more value than BD and at that point id rather hold

mittelstadt has 3 even strength points this year and his lines get caved in defensively and Granato is ruining Krebs development by continuing to play Mittelstadt prominently AND depth defense is a massive problem.

we have a positive goal differential and thats with jacob bryson being on the ice for 7 goals for and 21 goals against. dumoulin is an upgrade and a sizeable one and replacing mittelstadt with krebs is better for the team.
