I wouldn’t do it unless there was at least a 2023 1st coming back

Yeah I would assume so as well. I think the leafs do it if it's 2 2nds + a prospect. Henrique would be a killer 3C for us and having him for two playoff rounds would be special for sure.

I think something along the lines of a first-round draft pick and a decent prospect or your 2024 second plus a better prospect, like Topi Niemela.

For 50% retention for the remainder of this season, and all of next season, It's going to look something like a 23 1st, a 2nd/3rd piece, a mid/late pick (probably a 5th), and we can take some cap back as long as its on an expiring deal.

I would recommend playing him at 2LW though, he is on pace for his usual 45 point season with the Ducks, with a better supporting cast, the guy could seriously take off production wise, of course you could swap him 2LW and 3C as needed for chemistry/need

I think a first and a guy like Abruzzese or Villeneuve would be more palatable for Leafs fans

Yeah the thing with the leafs currently is we have a bunch of guys who can fill that 2LW having a guy like Henrique really being a force on the 3rd line would be major. What's his value without retention? If its significantly less than I wouldn't mind that

It would be a fair chunk less without retention, but that may be offset somewhat by how much cap/contract you want us taking back the other way.

    As a base 2nd + Kerfoot for Henrique + 7th?

I'm sure with retention Kerfoot could fetch a 3rd

Kerfoot has no value to the Ducks. First, we can't retain on him and Henrique and Klingberg and Shattenkirk. So it ends up being us trading him or the Leafs trading him and that's something the Leafs have yet to pull off. Which makes me think there aren't as many options to trade him as you are making out. So how about Toronto find that trade for a 3rd and pass us the pick.

The tricky part with a prospect instead of Kerfoot is the Anaheim pipeline is so much better than the Leafs. There is a very short list of guys Anaheim would want and none of them are guys Toronto wants to part with. Voit and Abruzzese are B-tier kids at best. Mid/late round picks with long shot odds of ever seeing NHL ice.

Well the trade above is contingent on the fact that Henrique is being traded without retaining any money, so you can flip Kerfoot with a retention slot. And yeah I think Toronto has a lot of middle six and bottom 4 prospects which is good for a contending team but I can see why they wouldn't interest a rebuilder like the Ducks.
