I'd kept McGinn and Dumoulin as of now. The big thing that needs to happen is shedding Kapanen's salary -- even if it is only $1.1M by waiving.

Personally think we need to shake something up in the 3rd line. McGinn, Carter, Heinen have not been a good line at all

I don't think we'll have to give up a 2nd to trade McGinn. At most a 3rd. If were gonna give up a 2nd I'd rather do McGinn a 2nd + more for Tanev. My first priorities would be trading Carter and Kap. Then after that McGinn or anyone else.

Why would they. Kapanen is not better than Olofsson

You're also rebuilding/retooling. He doesnt need to be better. Hes a little younger, cheaper, plus you get a decent prospect and a 2nd round pick. Pens add a little more yes, but value wise it's pretty close

It's not likely he waives, but I would do everything possible to try and make a trade happen. You never know. If there's a contender that has a real shot maybe he considers. At the very least I don't think he can be third line, he's been tanking that line for a while. Better to use him in Joe Thorton Panthers type of role.

Buffalo declines, Kapanen is softer than Olofsson and lacks any outstanding traits. Olofsson can shoot at very least

I think he was decent in Toronto, he has wheels and has basically always been better than Olofsson in ES (maybe he hasn't been very good in Pens lately), but I don't like Olofsson, the dude just doesn't seem to want to play. We also get 2nd+, I would do this to somehow stir up our third line and add speed.

    But it's not like that

Kapanen - 110 hits last season

    Olofsson - 10 hits for 72 games,

Come on, softer? He is faster and more energetic than Olofsson, I'm tired of this sleepy third line. Olofsson and Mitts are bloody overrated players with terrible metrics who don't produce **** at 5v5 and don't play defense.

Olofsson has fairly average 5v5 production. Kapanens 5v5 numbers are absurdly high because he gets little PP time. His quality of linemates at 5v5 is significantly higher as well. Olofsson is what he is, Mittlestadt needs to go

Would you guys do Kapanen, 2nd for Mittelstadt?

I wouldn't, Kapanen doesn't do anything for me, he just blocks me from possibly seeing Rousek, Rosen, Kulich.

Let me direct you all to this URL:
    https://pittsburghhockeynow.com/pittsburgh-penguins-nhl-trade-kasperi-kapanen-searching-bad-contracts-for-deal/

"...if the Pittsburgh Penguins want to move Kasperi Kapanen, his value is no longer a first-round pick in return but includes a tethered first-rounder to facilitate the deal.
No, that’s not fair, but the few GMs with cap space realized their value, and the demand for their cap space is not going down."

While sending a first to move Kasperi may be a bit hyperbolic, getting Olofsson for ONLY a second and Kasperi is not enough for me.
Over the past two seasons (including this one) Olofsson has only five fewer goals than Kapanen has over his last four seasons.
Playing for Pittsburgh, Victor may very well reach 30 or more goals this year.
Drop Nathan and the second and replace them with this years first (protected of course), Buffalo can retain enough of Victor's salary to balance the caps.
Buffalo's first GM and coach always said, you do not trade goals. It was true then it is true now.

Well that is my three cents worth, probably worth less than that.

BUF doesn't need forwards or draft picks. I don't see how or why that trade would happen.

We would take Petterson off your hands though.

    Petterson <> Olofsson + 2nd?

I would. The Sabres really need Dman and it kinda adds to a cluster but I think that may be a big + for Krebs, to not only get Mitts minutes but have Olofsson kapanen instead of 2 of Okposo Girgensons or Hino
