Chiarot-No, Lehkonen-No.... oh wait😎
i mean...Lehkonen specifically *didn't* get a 1st rounder back, he got a late 2nd and a prospect.

Swing and a miss. Aging winger?! He's 28. My.Gawd
Anderson *is* aging for what he is, though - he's a power forward and a lot of his value comes from his physicality. He's already proven he's not the most durable guy (3 of his 6 full seasons had him missing 13, 19, and 56 games) so a contract that will cover him through his age-33 season has a ton of potential to turn into a dud.
Here's a comp for you: Milan Lucic. Good, physical power forward, and through his age-28 season was inarguably a *much* better player than Anderson has been to date - he averaged 20 goals & 50 pts per 82 GP through that season, and only had one season where he missed major time (2009-10).
Wonder what Lucic's age-29 through -32 seasons looked like?
age 29 ('17-18): 82 GP, 10-24-34
age 30 ('18-19): 79 GP, 6-14-20
age 31 ('19-20): 68 GP, 8-12-20
age 32 ('20-21): 56 GP, 10-13-23
Basically a 10-18-28/82 GP player after that, and Edmonton wound up dumping him in a trade of disappointing wingers after 3 of those above seasons.
Does it mean Anderson is going to turn into a bum? Not necessarily - I do think some of the hate he gets around here is a bit much. But the fact remains that he's been a somewhat underwhelming power forward who's going to spend the most of his remaining term on the wrong side of 30, and who hasn't really produced in a way to justify his $5.5M AAV. I could see another team doing a Neal/Lucic type of deal and possibly sending an asset to Montreal in that case; I can't see a team giving up a premium asset to assume what will most likely be the decline years of a guy who really wasn't much more than a second liner to begin with.
