Jets don’t do 8x contracts, kind of an internal cap at 5x, will be interesting to see what Dubois ends up doing with a year of team control left. Personally don’t mind a 5x8.5 or a 3 for 1 lesser nhl caliber Center, prospect, and a 1st for Dubois. But not sure if that’s possible. Not sure anybody coming to winnipeg after being in the league a while and not being from Winnipeg that will go 8x there.

If Larkin only wanted 8 x 8 Don't you think he'd already be resigned by now. The least Larkin is taking on the open market is 7 x $9,500,000 probably closer to 7 x $10,000,000 if not closer to 7 x $10,500,000 and there's zero chance of Larkin leaving his hometown for the likes of Winnipeg. Larkin won't sign that extension and would nix a trade to Winnipeg. While Winnipeg won't be looking to get older and overpaying a player into his mid 30's.

Didn’t Morrissey get 8 years? Connor 7, Ehlers 7. They definitely don’t cap term. Just not often that players want to take a long term deal here.

Either way, think Detroit declines as I’m not sure Dubois would sign there. Maybe though. I’d rather move Dubois for a good prospect and 1st.

Those contracts sound ideal. I could see Dubois considering 5 years in WPG. He’s playing with elite talent and could cash in huge after the 5 years. Doubt scheifele wants a 5 year deal though. One and only big ticket so will want to go big $ for term.

Also yup, really wish there could’ve been an 8 year deal for patty. Man did management really screw that one up. Not a generational goal scorer, but definitely very close to that. I always think about what could’ve been had the jets coaching staff been willing to give Ehlers-Scheifele-Laine an extended look under a proper system. I also think a lot about if the jets still had trouba. He’s overpaid currently but exactly what the team is in need of.

Ya you’re 100 percent correct, don’t mind pionk and Dubois, but would much prefer the more expensive higher ceiling guys they replaced. I got a feeling that somebody walking for nothing and management going to blame the player and save face on scheifele or helly. For some reason I’m not sure where it works, but I could see a kane/bogosian replay trade with a Dubois/demelo or different defenseman for a similar type package. Crazy how good this squad looks with a little bit of health and they are running away with division. Probably need a little more scoring and a little heavier up front. But they could have a second or third round run in them.
