Return would be significant for Konecny.

Proceeds to make a non significant trade. Typical.

Proceeds to be an idiot, typical.
That return is pretty significant imo, but open to suggestions.

Engvall sucks hence why he’s always in trades. Good prospect nothing special. 1st is meh as it will be late and the 2nd meh as well. So the only thing decent out of this trade is the B prospect at best and the 1st. How is this significant in your opinion?

I don’t think we need a star, but we need an impact winger. I don’t consider Konecny a top line guy; he’s a career 20-25 goals, 50-60 point guy - a good 2nd line winger but under team control for 3 years on a reasonable (not great) contract so have to give up a lot.
Could also target a better player like O’Reilly or Tarasenko or Horvat (not a winger) but they’d all be rentals unsure .

I don’t like rentals but If he’s available (big if as blues look like they’ll hang around neutral ) & price is not ridiculous, I agree 100%.

Geez 60 point wingers are worth a great deal these days if this is underwhelming.

I think a 3C is what's needed. Someone who can either be really good defensively (ROR) freeing up the top 2 lines even more. Or someone who is a huge upgrade offensively (Horvat). The big 4 are producing and will continue to do so but if we can get a 3rd scoring line then it's going to be impossible to match up against the Leafs. I would pay whatever is needed to get ROR personally. If he's available

B prospect eh? Typical of your ilk, all TO prospects are garbage and all leaf players suck. It's weird how guys can be good depth contributors on good teams but wouldn't make worse teams.

This is a year to grab a rental, if we can get the right now. TO can't afford to take on long term cap. We have to sign Matthews and Nylander after next season and need to plan for it.

I don’t know that I agree on rental; cap is going up (sounds like significantly) so should not be an issue. If we landed a winger (Konecny or similar) with term, may be no need to sign bunting next year unless it is to a team friendly deal (Knies is on the horizon).
Leafs are set up well (Dubas doesn’t get enough credit) to resign Matthews, Nylander and Marner eventually. If best winger available at 22-23 TDL has term (as long as cap hit and acquisition price are reasonable), no problem making that deal.

Yes a B prospect. Your ilk constantly over rate players and create horrible trades that favor TOR heavily.

Konecny isn't at all the best player available, he just had a hit start and tried to fight Matthews

Minten is far from a b prospect. He's going to be a very good two way centre in the near future. He was a steal in the 2nd round. I wouldn't trade him at all. He could be the prospect with the best future in our entire system. But you have all the answers eh? Just a pro scout for all the ages.

I think Dubas expected MUCH more from Kerfoot $3.5 MIL and Engvall $2.25 MIL this season which is why he didn't sign Niederreiter $4.0 MIL and Kubalik $2.5 MIL this past summer. I guess maybe those 2 players didn't want to sign in Toronto as well but anyway. I would play those 2 forwards if possible to be traded for over Konecny and Kerfoot (and Engvall).

All 3 C's are rentals that I can see and might be expensive to acquire. I would wonder about leaving Kampf as 3 C and getting a guy like Acciari for 4th C

I know who he is and yes I agree with your assessment. Being a B prospect is fine. Why do they all have to be As in your mind.

Add the plus if you want. Calm down.

Agreed, they clearly did not want to lose Kerfoot- I think they like his flexibility (play up / down lineup, centre or wing, pk & pp2). He’s underperforming so far - no doubt - but then again so is Matthews right now, gotta think they’ll snap out of it soon. Engvall seems to be coming around (maybe 🤞); I like his spreed and size (if he ever chooses to use it 😕). I also like Kampf a lot (great pickup by Dubas) but he should centre matchup line, not a lot happening offensively there. Can’t shake the feeling that one winger with some offensive pop could be the difference in those tight playoff games

They all are not A's but Minten is a extremely good prospect. I have him as potentially the best prospect TO has. I am just not sure if Knies will be as good as people hope. But Minten looked like he could have stuck in the preseason already. He's going to be really good. I think the ceiling is a middle 6 defensive centre who could be a less offensive Bergeron.
