In my mind an option

Description
- minimal player movement.
- Kid line = 2nd line. 3 out of 5 games great, 1 okay, 1 bad. on avarage.
- I think a third line of Kreids - Vinny and Sam would own it.
- Only question mark is first line but Bread man = playmaker and Mika is a goal scorer and Vesey takes a lot of puck battles and plays defensively, so how knows... right?
- Besides it is semi working anyway...
- at this point I would try Domingue as nr 2 goalie. Halak just can't buy a win at this point (not blaming him)

Interested to see what the take on this trade is from a CHI perspective....but from a NYR stand point, this is the type of improvements Drury should be looking at: bottom 6 AND reinforcing the D. Very refreshing to see a trade w/ CHI which improves the team for a shot (or a few shots ) at the Cup AND doesn't involve Kane -so valuable assets going forward aren't squandered for 1 shot at the Cup. But while Hajek and Krav represent major headaches for NYR, just wonder if CHI sees potential in these guys.

I’m not fully sold on either player we’re getting in return so I’m gonna say no to this

I think hawks prefer picks, and it's also just two players the hawks probably aern't going to trade. Trading the brother of the guy we just gave an 8 year extension to could happen but i'd call it unlikley and a bit of a slap in the face to seth, and I think lafferty is a guy that Richardson is going to want as a piece here for a long time. Not in a sense of "this is a core piece of a cup team", but more to help build culture and such. Lafferty plays the exact brand of hockey Richardson is trying to teach

My comment above was more about the approach in this type of deal rather than the actual pieces involved....I don't know Lafferty or Jones enough, and don't know what CHI fans think of them- so I really can't say whether this is a good deal for NY, CHI, both, or neither. But I do like the idea of improving NYR without the expensive "win now" addition- an approach which has worked only once (and it almost failed in '94 as well) in 80 years.

As far as Hajek and Krav....the question would be how much upside does CHI see? Hajek is a remnant of a disastrous trade. NYR seem to think he has value- and there is a pretty decent list of D men- even still playing- who struggled in NY, yet found their niche elsewhere and have been pretty successful in their given roles...might Hajek be another?? And Krav is a classic example of a guy needing a new start somewhere else. He has lost some luster, but still does have a high ceiling if he finds the right situation.
