Détails additionnels:
According to Tony Marinaro of the Montreal Gazette (whom is pretty reputable) the Devils have very strong interest in acquiring Josh from the Habs. Hughes, Gorton and the Habs are going to want a very high price for him. I know Devils fans aren't going to like the price and will say it is too high so I am just going to leave their side of this blank and ask what everyone predicts the Devils would give up. I will include mine in the comments and IF this trade goes down we will see who is closest.

Ok so now time for my prediction

Option 1: 1st + one of Nemec or Holtz (I think the Devils likely keep Nemec) + Johnsson (cap reasons)
Option 2: Nemec + Holtz + Johnsson

My guess is the trade will be:

Montreal Receives:
2023 first (top 10 protected)
Shakir Mukhamadullin (or another high end D prospect not named Hughes or Nemec)
Andreas Johnson

New Jersey Receives:
Josh Anderson
3rd/Mid round pick in 2023

There may need to be one more cap piece going back to Montreal to make the deal work, but this would be the core of it in my mind.

Nemec and/or Hughes will be off limits.

I suggested the same as option one but it would be Shakir Mukhamadulin or another high end d prospect not named Hughes or Nemec.

I agree that Option 1 is the most likely but I don't think Hughes goes for a lower tier prospect and especially not if more cap has to be added.

I posted something similar and got roasted for it. That is what I believe the Habs will ask for but I can see either Mysak or Norlinder pr some other prospect (definetly not Hutson, Ridley, Farrell or Roy but others would be available including Mailloux) added to the trade to entice devils

Bernier is LTIR and moving him actually makes the deal worse cap wise for the Devils

Shakir Mukhamadulin was the 19th overall pick in 2020 and is a RD prospect. Definitely still an A- prospect.

Hughes and Nemec are both blue chip prospects with probable star or even super star pedigree. Prospects like this are very seldom traded unless a super star is coming back. Which Anderson is not. IF Hughes or Nemec are in the package I would be SHOCKED beyond belief.

I totally agree with your whole premise, I just don't think Hughes and Gorton will allow the Devils to take Nemec or Holtz off the table, especially if they have to take back cap.

It's funny when you google this rumor its all Montreal based. The Montreal fans who have posted or rather reposted what this one Montreal reporter said. Smells a lot like the Petry rumors!

I think the Devils could use another big body in the middle six but not at the nutty price these people want. Johnsson + Boqvist + 2nd, Maybe a late first of Montreal retain 10-15% otherwise why bother wingers are a dime a dozen.

If Monteal gets a package like:

Montreal Receives:
2023 first (top 10 protected)
Shakir Mukhamadullin (or another high end D prospect not named Hughes or Nemec)
Andreas Johnson

New Jersey Receives:
Josh Anderson

They should take it and run.

Holtz might be in play though but Nemec and Hughes definitely would not be.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how absurd New Jerseys prospect pool is? And LA for that matter. They have assets for dayssss.

I think thats more or less the ballpark of what it will be.

As much as people want to gripe the fact is outside of his shoulder surgery year he has maintained a 25 goal 82 game pace since 17-18 almost all of which has come outside the PP.

6'3 220 lb guys who can do that skate well use their size AND fight are highly coveted players who you typically pay more for

The problem with Mukhamadullin as part of the package is this, Montreal already has a boatload of that type of player (see Guhle, Struble, Kovacevic, Xhekaj and others) we need a RD prospect capable of moving the puck up ice and that is Nemec all the way. I agree with everyone that Nemec should be off the table but I don't see Hughes allowing that to happen, just my 2 cents here. I would be ecstatic if we got a 1st + Holtz + Johnsson (which I think is the most likely scenario). I also forgot to add protection to the 1st but it doesn't need it since the Devils will be in the playoffs anyway unless they really crash lol.

Nemec was the 2nd overall pick from this past draft. It would cost Cole Caufield + for New Jersey to ever consider moving him. Just remove Hughes and Nemec from your mind entirely. I also wouldn't move Holtz if I were them unless it was for a star. They can easily get what they need with their prospects not named Hughes, Nemec of Holtz.

Montreal has a lot of left D prospect, getting another RD prospect in Shakir would be great. With Mailloux in the pipeline also, I think Montreal would be set up very nicely moving forward.

well, first thing first, i think you are way off in your prediction of what the value would be. no way nemec is even in the conversation.

but the most importa t part in all of this ; marinaro is not a good source. he has no inside connection with the nhl, only the montreal media.

Yes we have a lot of d prospects (mostly LD) but we only have Barron and Mailloux on the right side really and Mailloux may never be cleared to play in the NHL so we need to add to that pool incase.

Not really, we have too many stay at home D men now, he doesn't fit what we need. We need a top pairing D prospect not another bottom 4 guy. We need someone who skates, moves the puck, puts up points and plays well defensively. Mukh doesn't put up points, 12 points in 33 KHL games is not the type of D man Montreal needs, they need a 30-50 point D man not a 15 point guy.
