He's a lock down top pair defender. He's much better and younger than Savard. TB doesn't need Monahan and can't afford to spend more draft capital they don't have.

He's a young top 4 RHD who can play defense and is signed to a decent contract.

Cernak's got an 8 year extension that kicks in this summer - I don't think that the Lightning are gonna move on from him for a rental Sean Monahan and a 32 year old Savard with a $3.5M cap hit through his age-34 season. I can't see JBB bailing on him after 20 iffy games this year - not his style to move guys like that.

youve gone mad. Cernak is a top pair RHD on a long term deal. His return is worth more than Lindholm's IMO. Youre also paying for his track record and experience, not just his abilities.

The reason Rutta was a great partner for Hedman is because he was a stay at home defender. Hedman didnt have to worry about who was on the right side of the ice, so he could jump into the rush a lot more. Cernak is the same in that regard, but far better.
