Reinhart trade idea 1 (pipe dream)
https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/654688?post_id=3691959
Transactions
1.
FLA
  1. Ferland, Micheal
Détails additionnels:
Could trade Reinhart to VAN or CGY and take back up to 3.5m in cap to activate Duclair OR could they could just acquire Ferland's contract I think and operate in LTIR (correct me if I'm wrong), although Vancouver is using that space currently.

Let me know what Vancouver could give for Reinhart.

Perhaps Garland 4.95m for Reinhart 6.5m if there was a way for FLR to shed 1.55m. Only thing that I can see working (cap-wise) is Reinhart+Hornqvist(600k retention) =11.2m for Garland+Pearson =8.2m. Vancouver would be dangerously close to the cap.
VAN
2.
FLA
  1. Dubé, Dillon
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (CGY)
Détails additionnels:
Not too sure on what Reinhart's value is now with his slow start but perhaps it's this. CGY is an unlikely trade partner because they have a similar problem with Lucic, and for next season, they need to lose more too.
CGY
  1. Reinhart, Sam
Détails additionnels:
Pretty much the only simple way for CGY to afford this is if they move Backlund which they probably can't.

I think it's too late to use Ferland's LTIR for a different team but someone let me know if FLR could acquire Ferland and then activate Duclair.

(Edit: Disregard)

I might be reading your comment wrong, but if you're asking if adding Ferland's $3.5 mil on LTIR would create and extra $3.5 mil in cap space, the answer is no. There's a common misconseption that having a player on LTIR magically creates extra cap space, when it actually doesn't. You've still only got $82.5 mil in space. If you were a team that was spending right to that threshold, and had a roster player go down for the season @3.5 mil, you would have $3.5 mil in space for the year for active players to fill that spot, not $86 mil for active players.

Also important to remember that cap space accrues on a daily basis, not by year, so the above explanation is a bit simplified.

Reinhart has 6 goals in his last 8 games, don’t think they have any interest in moving him

Not extra an extra 3.5m, but would it allow for FLR to keep the 3m LTIR pool that they have now.

I just realized that they still need to clear cap though since I was still adding an extra 3m in my head, ty.

Calgary won't move Backlund even if they could. That's like suggesting LA moves Danault, or Minnesota moves JEE to fit in a player like Nylander

No, LTIR doesn't work like that. It does not give you cap space, it simply put makes the LTIR'd cap hit net zero (it's lot more complicated than this and would take a while to explain but that's the general idea)

Yeah, I know it doesn't give cap space what I was wondering was if they would have been able to maintain the same LTIR pool, Duclair's 3m. I did inadvertently add another 3m in cap space. The way you put it is probably the best way to think of it, otherwise it does get confusing.
