Description
Habs fans have been insistent that Devils are aggressively pursuing Anderson. Sounds like these “rumors” are mostly click-bait. But I’ll play along.

For Comtois - Ducks get a few good pieces here, including a huge dman and speedy center.

For Meier - Considering the timing of the trade before you respond. This would be after season, before first arbitration window. In other words, if it gets to this point, Meier would not be extending in San Jose and the best case option for the Sharks would be to get 1-year arb award of around $8.5m. That would leave one last window between January 2024 (when extension can first occur) and March (2024 deadline) for Sharks to trade him. instead of hanging onto him for possible late 1st rounder in 2024, they take a top-forward back in Sharangovich.

For Anderson - to start, there would have to be a significant amount of his $5.5 million salary and he worth about $1.8m. There is no viable deal that exists with Devils taking full salary.

Ducks add a 2nd and it’s fair

Seems reasonable. I'll toss our 2023 1st in the deal just for the pleasure of seeing Hughes and Z together tears of joy

Zegras - Hughes - Bedard

Wouldn’t even matter if they ever win games, it’d be fun to watch the magic show.

Certainly is a fair offer for Commer, I'm still holding out hope that Comtois finds what he needs to convince the coach to give him a 5-7 game stint on the Zegras terry line to see if any magic can happen.

Interesting trade for Anderson, but Habs are not going to tie up retention slots for 4.5 years. They would rather keep the player.

Please understand it's not that your value is off, it's the reality of only having 3 active retentions

Nah... it's also that his value is off

Without any retention, it’s unlikely anyone bids for him. So if there are rumors of a bidding war, it’s likely Kent has offered some serious money back.

We are talking about 30-point 4th liner here

It's not likely Kent offered any money back because that would be idiotic and Kent is no idiot. With retention it's highly unlikely he moves anywhere. He'll end up on Robidas island before that.

You think Anderson is worth a 2nd, a 2G and a bottom pairing D, and Habs would have to retain 50%, in a world where 2.75M retention over 4 years is worth more than a 2nd.

So basically, Anderson has negative value according to you. I think he's worth at least a 1st without retention. I guess we'll see who's right when he's traded.

Okay well, Habs fans can go back to offering Anderson for Jack Hughes or for Nemec+. And Devils fans will go back to ignoring Habs fans.

Just easier that way for us.

Find one post where a Habs fan ask for Nemec or Hughes for Anderson 1 for 1. I'll tell him he's crazy right away.

$5.5m x 5 years
Since he signed, only 2 (Faksa, Deslauriers) have worse WAR
305 other forwards above them.

And his point production in year 3 of deal puts him in similar ranges with these guys

Loui Eriksson 0.39
Andrew Ladd 0.40
Mikkel Boedker 0.43
Milan Lucic 0.43
Josh Anderson 0.45
David Backes 0.45
Frans Nielsen 0.47

Except all those guys had better overall impact on game.

He had back surgery in 19-20, with only 1 goal in 26 games. If you look at seasons he's been healthy, i think he proved he's a 20-25 goal scorer.

As for WAR, it doesn't show his physical impact on a game or his speed.

And anyway, my point is not how good he is, my point is his value has to be higher than a 2nd if you look at market value.

Do you think Washington play Wilson on first line because he's the best at point production?

Those figures start after 19-20 season.

There were tons. Most Habs fans were saying Anderson was worth more than 2nd overall pick since Slafkovsky (who was expected to be taken #2) has a ceiling similar to Anderson.

There was also an Anderson for Hischier+ deal in there somewhere.

We're still laughing.

Where can i see that his WAR is 3rd worse overall since he signed with MTL?

I can't find where it says Anderson is 3rd worst forward for WAR, but i'm reading WAR is a bad stats because it only include offence, defence, penalties and zone transition.

Anderson is not a passer and is almost never carrying the puck on the ice. He's good at puck battle, forecheck, hits and driving the net. Those aren't considered in WAR.

Out of his 3 seasons in MTL, including this one, 2 have been bad ones for his team. His defensive stats are affected by that. He's not that bad defensively.

Not saying he's a great player, but he's definitly not 3rd worst forward in the league.
