Savard doesnt have a NTC. Seems like a perfect fit for Ottawa. Might as well offer up multiple picks and prospects and we will call it a night! Bon voyage

This team doesn’t need a bandaid option. Either get a legit top 4RD or do nothing and get a good draft pick

The Sabres love Lybushkin and signed him to 2 years just 4 months ago. Jokiharju has been fine since coming back so I doubt Adams is looking to move him either. And any RD man out would require 2 coming back, the Sabres have no one waiting in the wings

It wouldn't surprise me if Zaitsev factored into this scouting mission.

There could be a match made in heaven awesome face

As opposed to what Ottawa has?! Hes been top pair on the Habs and blocking everything in sight. At the very least, he will give them some punch back there.

doesn't take much to be top pair on the habs blueline lol

i really don't think savard has much to his game other than being big and blocking shots. his skating is not good. its an upgrade on zaitsev and holden for sure, but it seems like a patchwork solution when the Sens need something that will suit their young left side long term. given that big defensemen in this league get overpaid, any likely trade will just bite the sens long term.

and he's not getting better either. Sens shouldn't want zaitsev 2.0 - savards skating suggests that he will fall off hard. Honestly he hasn't been admirable since being in Columbus.

The Sens won’t have much cap next year and they need to spend 4-5 mill on LEGIT top 4D. Getting a bottom 4D signed longterm is not it. That guarantees we are likely at the same place next year.

What are the alternatives? Most guys available are LD which isn't the need. Perhaps you prefer that they get Jensen but he'll probably cost around same as Savard to keep around anyways but acquisition cost could be higher. The only alternative that I can think of is Sean Walker at 2.65 but is he the type of dman that Ott needs? Soucy can play both left and right, but he will have to be a deadline acquisition likely.

Jensen would be my #1 target . He’s a legit top 4 defensive Dman

It's probably going to be a high cost/low return on investment acquisition, especially if they want him now. I would imagine WSH would want at least a 1st in value but right now they would want a forward that could help them. Joseph+futures might be something they want or it could be Pinto. Either way, the Sens aren't going to bite.

I wanted Jensen in return for Connor Brown. What a dumb trade that was. Traded Connor Brown to make room for Formenton in the top 9 and Formenton hasn’t played

Well, Brown did get injured and is out for the season so they are lucky that they got something at least.

They are going to need a couple of Dman regardless, they might as well get the cheaper one now to at least improve some.

Their D next year should be something like:
    Chabot-Jensen
    Sanderson-Zub
    Kulikov-JBD

Hopefully Jensen makes it to free agency

I've heard of Mario Ferraro being a potential guy that could be traded out of SJ, don't think they are shopping him but perhaps he might be someone they can pursue if they are willing to pay up. He's a LD though, but he's supposedly good defensively. If there isn't really space for Brannstrom perhaps they could send him in a package. He's only 24, and signed at 3.25mx4. No clue though if he's actually good defensively though.

Just want to point out that Savard was the first star of the game tn with 4 shots, 6 blocked shots and 24:12 minutes of ice time. Dude is proving he is still a solid second pairing guy, but MTL is rebuilding and would be smart to move out any dmen with miles on them considering the logjam of ready youth they have on the back end.

It won’t be, Sabres defensive depth is suspect. On top of that, the Sabres only have 3 RHD that have any NHL experience, Jokiharju, Lybushkin, and Fitzgerald. Their 3 Defenseman call ups earlier this season were all LD. The Sabres won’t be moving out a RD.
