As I said, no GM will be helping out Dubas, teams will be forcing Dubas' hand to pay up what they demand. No overpayment of an offer, no defensemen that you desperately need

That is not happening, I understand that no one will be helping Dubas but you have some balls to assume Dubas is dumb enough to not realize people are trying to fleece him. He will find someone & trade how he wants to trade, He won’t make a move just to make a move it will have to be for something that is an upgrade

What leverage does Dubas have over any GM in the league with his current situation? Those GMs with expiring UFA defensemen like the Ducks can simply shift over to a non desperate GM and get fair market value at the end of the day. This is an opportunistic league, GMs will pounce when an opportunity is made available to them. Right now, this is Dubas desperately needing a defensmen (the opportunity)

Why would a GM have any incentive to go the "fair market route" with Dubas? They can just do that with another GM

That, paired with his current 12 team NTC, and that he has carried a minimum of 8 team NTC since that quote, would most likely confirm he doesn't want to go to Canada.
