I think he's just longer to develop. Vilardi was drafted 11th in 2017 and just started being good for LA. They should be patient with Turcotte too.

Whether you think Edmundson would be a good acquisition for Los Angeles or not, the problem he presents for the Kings is illustrated by this ACGM -- Alex Iafallo won't be on the LTIR list forever. So any such deal would have to involve significant retention or taking back significant cap. That's why we Los Angeles adherents keep suggesting Sean Walker as part of any proposed exchange. And as @LIRIK so insightfully points out, I don't think that we're ready to give up on Alex Turcotte so soon. We were patient with Vilardi, we're being patient with Tobi Bjornfot, and I think that we'll be patient with Turcotte.

Bad luck. He has missed significant time with a string of unrelated injuries (two concussions and an undisclosed ankle injury) and illnesses (mono and acute appendicitis). He only came back from the most recent concussion about a week ago. When he has been healthy, he has looked really good. There's not really any recurring injury issues that would make him "injury prone" as the last concussion was the result of a dirty hit to the head.

Turcotte could very well get traded before he makes the Kings, but I don't think the Kings are at the point where they're going to sell low on him. Either someone is going value him in a trade as a blue-chip, 5th overall prospect, or the Kings are going to hold on to him until his waiver exemption expires in 2024-25.
