Karlsson is 32, has an $11.5M cap hit, has 4 more seasons remaining on his current contract, is scoring at an unsustainable pace, and he hasn't played more than 56 regular seasons games in the past 4 seasons.

SJS isn't retaining $3.5M a season for the next 4 seasons or $14M total. Grier is retaining $2,75M for 2 more seasons on the Burns trade and I think he likes his job. So retaining another $3.5M for multiple seasons is something that could end his stint as SJS's GM.

Trading Meier and Karlsson is going to waterdown the return. Only reason to package them is if no one is willing to pay up for Meier.

I think there is merit to that, I think that they would Ideally try to send them out seperately, Karlsson at 2-3m would be a huge add, but it seems like he needs to be the #1, might be a decent candidate for a team looking for a solid PPQB
