Given Kane is on LTIR for around half the season, I don't know how that'll impact EDM's cap situation. This scenario is assuming at least 1mil extra space from that which isn't shown because CF can't account for that. The point being this wouldn't leave EDM over the cap.

As for retaining on Sheary, I think they'd want to use those retention slots on Orlov, Jensen, and Eller or Strome in order to maximise value.

Sheary is an effective producer of offense at 5-on-5 and has some history of success next to Crosby so it's a shot in the dark. Given he won't be getting PP or PK time, I presume this would be the best place for him to get the minutes he'd need. They may get more than expected, but I don't think a 3rd is far off.

I haven't watched Edmonton this year, but aren't people talking about Poolparty playing himself out of the NHL and into Europe? Why would we give up Duhaime, who is producing more than him this season in fewer games and less ice time, plus a pick just to be his last chance before going back to Sweden?
