The Toronto trifecta Kerfoot, Engvall and Holl. All 3 in one trade impressive.

Honestly that's more than enough for Klingberg at full cap lol, obviously Dubas isn't going to trade 3 roster players for 1. Even if Dubas was willing, Verbeek would want to retain so he can get a better return. Although, he would be able to flip Kerfoot, Holl, and Engvall but that's extra work and has the potential not to yield much.

I’m so used to Klingberg being 50% retained I didn’t even look this time — yes obviously Patty would retain to max value

You would have little trouble flipping all of them for other assets. You get a 1st, likely a 2nd for flipping Kerfoot, a 3rd for Holl and if Engvall scores a few goals a 3rd for him as well. All for a guy who specifically brought in to trade at the deadline.

Ok but Kerfoot, Engvall and Holl are all UFAs so Anaheim could end up with only Der-Arguchintsev and a late 1st.

Yes, but just the late 1st (they aren't getting any early one's most likely anyways) + Der-Arguchinstev is a decent return for Klingberg at 7.5m as a rental. Neither GM does accepts that trade because Verbeek will look to maximize his return, so he will retain, and he will try to maximize the return in the fewest moves possible.

As for Dubas he's not trading 3 roster players for 1, especially since Klingberg only replaces Holl 5v5, and isn't bringing much. He's probably a better PP QB than Reilly since his shot is more of threat from the point than Reilly, but he can't replace Holl on PK. They would only have 2.8m in cap to go get a top 6 upgrade since Robertson is probably not ready enough to make much of an impact in the playoffs and get a Holl replacement for the PK. So maybe they trade Sandin's 1.4m +800k +2.8m = 5m for those two upgrades but they might not get deals done.

Am I the only one who remembers that every time Kerfoot, Engvall and Holl get traded in the same deal in an ACGM, we all have to take a shot?

A 1st for Kerfoot? you must be dreaming man, guy is on pace for 27 points this season. Maybe if he could regain his 50 point pace form from last year, and retain 50% salary he would be worth a 1st.

As it stands now, in this market, Kerfoot is maybe worth a 3rd, and the other two are late round picks at best.

You values are way off. Holl and Engvall are guys that go for 5th or 6th round picks at the deadline.

We've seen Verbeek willing to do something like this as evidenced by the Rakell trade (Rakell for 2nd, Clang, ZAR, Simon).

Teams can only carry 23 active players, so this needs to be simplified.

I'm thinking if Toronto wants in, the asking price is Klingberg for a 1st, Niemela and a cap dump (Kerfoot, Engvall OR Holl, but not all 3).

Read better. You are getting a first in the proposed trade. A 2nd for Kerfoot and a couple other picks as well.

Ah the old Leaf tax eh? Like a guy like Schenn is worth a 3rd or even a 2nd but Holl who's so so so much better is worth a 5th or a 6th eh? Plays 20 minutes often for a top 10 defensive team but is worthless because his jersey has a maple leaf on it.

You read better, Kerfoot isn't worth a 2nd, he is at best a third right now, and the other two are worth late round picks.

The trade proposal is a 1st, a 3/4th for Kerfoot, and a couple 5/7th picks for the other two for our main trade piece this season. We can get that return or better elsewhere, by retaining on Kling, and not having to take multiple contracts back the other way.

LOL. The Ducks used Schenn and a 7th to get Del Zotto then flipped Del Zotto for a 6th. And this was years ago. Using Schenn in your argument on what Holl is worth tells me all I need to know.

On what planet does any rational person think Schenn is worth more than a late pick 6-7

Ducks got Klingberg in the off-season for nothing. This is giving them a 1st and SDA for him. The others are in place of retention as they could help the ducks this year in some way or be traded for other 5-7 round picks, or some could be signed to short term low deals after the season.

Right, I forgot, all leaf players are worthless. Any one from a different team with worse underlying numbers, less production etc etc, all are worth more than any leaf.

Missing the point entirely. Holl is a big RD who plays 20 minutes a night on a top 10 defensive team. That's worth nothing obviously

Preaching to the choir. However, a big RD who plays 20 minutes a night on a top 10 defensive team, has quite a bit of value.
