Unless the market for wingers changes drastically I don’t see it. Dufour and Bolduc would go 1st rd in a redraft , they are both B+ prospects.

Market for a cheap winger 5.5 m for 3 years. You're kidding me right? Bolduc is probably at best 4-5D. He's already 21 and he isn't really getting all that much better. Regardless of you wanting to argue he's a PPG player right now, but 1 Lehigh Valley game was the sole reason for that 2 it's AHL 3 we don't need D prospects especially if it's making us worse in the long run.

Defour just because he almost scored 120 points in the worst CHL league talent wise as an OVERAGER doesn't make him a B+ prospect you're looking at a middle 6 at best forward one that we have enough of those already.

So in a sense ROR and Tarasenko might be a deal for that since they are rentals but definitely not a bargain contract forward with 3 years left. Sorry.

You can try to make light of Bolduc bring a PPG in the AHL, but not many U22 defenseman are capable of that. I’m pretty sure STL does need D prospects.

12 games doesn't make him a justified PPG player take the other 80 games player into the mix and you have yourself someone who wants to beef up the value on a prospect to get a great winger. Definitely not gonna work on me buddy.

Blues have Kessel Lyle Tucker Perunovich when he gets back. Samorukov that's just players under contract who could do about the same thing as Bolduc. How about college guys. Noah Beck, Michael Buchinger, Tyson Galloway, Marc-Andre Gaudet, Arseni Koromyslov, Leo Loof. All of those guys are younger for 1 and 2 are also Lefty D-man. Outside of Beck being RD and 21. You still believe we need D-man prospects? Try again.

Buchnevich is just so good and has term and a cheap number. The return would have to blow the doors off

yeah big fat no. You underestimate what Buch value is.

So let's try to make a comparable deal for Barzal. Barzal for Mikkola Alexandrov 2023 2nd and 2024 2nd.

His age 19 season production was very good as well in the AHL. Last season he dealt with a high ankle sprain all season. None of those D prospects are better than Bolduc besides peronuvich, and he can’t stay healthy.

No it’s just the reality what the market for scoring wingers is. Barzal is a center and one of the most dynamic players in the league. Much different.

ye 14 points in 24 games makes me want him SOOOO Much when I could guarantee myself an over a point per game winger

not quite. what did tkachuk get? Debrincat? Fiala? Rakell? Lehkonen? Market for a cheaper winger is not what you say it is and while yes market for a center can be very much a more value spot. Barzal played the same amount of games and had a dozen less points so as of last year production wise Buch making less was consider more valuable. Try again to "inflict market stats to try and justify bending Stl over. not going to work.

I mean, Buch is not on the level of Tkachuk & deBrincat. Call me back when he's had multiple 40 goal seasons or broken 100 points.

Fiala got a mid/late 1st (19th OA) and a D prospect who profiles as a middle pair guy.

Rakell got a 2nd rounder, a mid-tier goalie prospect, and a couple of warm bodies to offset the cap hit.

Lehkonen got a 2nd rounder 3 drafts away and a D prospect who profiles as a middle pair guy.

Based on the comps you brought to the table, I'd say a pair of 2nds, a slightly older D prospect who profiles as #4/5, and a winger with middle-6 upside is more or less in line value-wise.

What @dannibalcorpse said. Barzal played for a coach who held him back and he was still elite. Now he’s playing like a top 5-7 center in the league this season. Buch and Barzal are not comparable
