Trying A Realistic Karlsson Trade With the Cap

I am not trying to insult anyone here. I am just trying to explore if there is any scenario where the Senators could do this and not bungle their cap future.

This is really tough and I am not sure if it will work without the Senators losing one of DeBrincat or Zub, not to mention the resignings of Pinto, JBD, Brannstrom and Kastelic. If you include the 1M expected salary cap raise, they would have a little under 16M for next year. I suppose you could move out like Joseph but is that worth it?

I would love to see a reunion, but honestly I think they would probably have to rope in a third team somehow, and though I just estimated the pieces they'd give up, bringing another team in makes that even more complicated.

Ehhh maybe I guess I did it differently because I saw another trade where people didn't like that idea, but good point

This is a tough one, the problem is nobody (not even a team like ARI) can realistically retain on Karlsson because he makes so damn much AND it's a long term deal. OTT would end up having to pay out the ears just to get a third team to shave a couple mil off Karlsson's cap hit.

I'm sure SJS would be thrilled to move him, but I have no clue how that would work unless it was straight up to a team that took his whole contract.

Sens can't take on Karlsson 11.5 AAV for the next 4 years


And sorry but lol, Sens won't give up their 10th OA pick from last year (even if he was a major reach) and a 4th to dump Zaitsev when they could just BUY HIM OUT in the summer for 1.67 M$ (spread over 2 years)
