It's just so much Boston's MO, though. They are not afraid to make blockbuster trades for the sole purpose of extending their contention windows for a few seasons more.

Not necessarily, he could be willing to do that in Boston who he will feel like owe him nothing vs Vancouver where he's the captain of the team and been a core piece. They just signed Miller for 8mx7, so his starting ask is probably 8mx8 and seems like he's trying to get 96pts to leave them no choice. In Boston, he will also be a core piece eventually, but it's slightly different.

Bruins seem to be doing fine with Horvat this season.....Now depending on what Bergeron and Krejci do in the offseason, the Bruins need to address their centre position. But Lysell should be off the table, he's been very good in his first AHL season. Just can't see the Bruins being the team to pay so much for Horvat in a trade.

Yeah, but I think they would have to assume that he's coming in as a pure rental if they do add him. I've seen some suggest Carlo to Vancouver which does fill their need but there is that concussion history, if that happens though it becomes more realistic for them to sign him but it could be challenge still.

With Carlo's 4.1m + Foligno's 3.8m, they might be able to sign Clifton, Swayman, and Zacha, but yeah it could be challenging depending on if Bergeron and Krecji return or not. The 4m cap raise goes to Pastrnak's extension.

If they want to keep Carlo and let Clifton go, then they probably need to move Ullmark.

The best long term fit for Horvat is Vancouver! Now if you want Miller we can talk...

You may be right about Horvat in Vancouver. But really is Horvat the best fit for the Canucks. Sounds like just more the same for the Canucks which isn't good enough. Let's be fooled by his hot start.
Miller? I wonder if Miller has trade value, without cap coming back to the Canucks. Teams looks at that 8m X 7 extension starting at age 30 and think, I can do better in free agency or sign my own guys.

Zero fit? That's crazy talk unless you think that Krejci is going to play into his 40s. In any normal scenario where he retires at the expected time, Horvat all of a sudden becomes crucial.

Boston wasn't willing to include Lysell in trade talks last season and are high on Lohrei. Don't see either guy being available in a trade.
